Nick’s back in the game! 🏀⛳

After an annoying back injury put a pause on his basketball, golf, and playtime with his daughters, he knew it was time for a change.

We started by easing the pain, then pushed on to rebuild his strength and change how he thinks about pain (mindset resiliency).

A few months and a lot of dedicated work later, Nick’s not just back; he’s better than ever.

Now he’s out there giving his all on the court, the course, and with his girls - no restrictions!

Meet Patrick, the guy who beat shoulder pain and came back stronger! 🌟

Patrick used to struggle with lifting his arm because of shoulder pain.

But after some solid rehab sessions, he’s totally nailing pull-ups, bench press, and overhead press - all of it without any pain. 💪

When he’s not rocking it at the gym, you’ll find him rock climbing, enjoying cold plunging, or spending time in the sauna. 🧗‍♂️❄️🔥

Patrick’s story is all about not letting pain hold you back.

He’s a real-life example of getting back to what you love, stronger and pain-free.

🩺💡 Has your journey with chronic pain led you from one doctor to another with no real solution? If you’ve had a frustrating medical maze experience, you’re not alone. Let’s shed some light on this. 🩺💡

The conventional path often looks like this:

Doctor 👉 Orthopedic Surgeon 👉 Physical Therapy 👉 No improvement 👉 Surgery. But remember, just because insurance-based PT didn’t work doesn’t mean ALL physical therapy is ineffective. 👀

A hard truth: Not all, but some surgeons may refer you to PTs knowing you might not improve, only to circle back for surgery. Why? Well, surgery is their expertise and how they earn a living.

So, what to do? 🤔💭 Be patient. Seek second, third, even fourth opinions. There are amazing healthcare professionals out there who genuinely want you to get better without resorting to surgery if it’s avoidable.

Take control of your health journey. Explore options. Knowledge is power, my friend! Stay strong, stay informed, and always remember: you are the most important player on your health team! 💪💙

🦵💪 Knee pain creeping up slowly with no acute injury? Your quads might be calling for help! Let’s break it down. 💪
🦵
Weak hips may or may not be associated with knee pain, but often it’s all about quad strength!

Your quads might be the secret culprits when it comes to that vague, nagging knee pain that’s slowly developed over time. 💡

Focusing on strengthening a painful area may seem counterintuitive, but here’s why it works: 💡

When you strengthen a muscle that crosses a painful joint, you support and stabilize that joint.

How about beefing up the strength in your hamstrings? By doing the opposite and less loaded, you help relieve the stress and pain. 🏋️‍♀️

We do this all the time for shoulders. If pressing causes pain, let’s pull; let’s row! Same with disc issues, we shift from sensitizing movements towards desensitizing ones. 💪🔄

Think of your body as a balanced system. Supporting each part helps the whole. Let’s give your quads some love and help ease that knee pain, one strengthening move at a time. 💖🔥

Achy joints with exercising? 😬

Before you even seek treatment, look at your total volume of exercise per week. The optimal range is between 10-20 working sets per week per muscle group. 💪🏻

For example, if you are training your chest, most people don’t need to exceed 20 sets because it will not provide any additional strength/hypertrophy gains and will compromise recovery. Suboptimal recovery may lead to pain and injury. ❌

Start tracking the number of sets you do each week if you haven’t yet!

Alvaro is a chiropractor who’s had low back pain for a while. 😬

By assessing his lumbar side gliding, we were able to identify discomfort and movement limitation to one side. 👌🏼

The solution? 🤔

Go into the restriction, to end range, many many many times. ✅

This exercise decreases the sensitivity, and Alvaro felt better with more range of motion only after 30-40 repetitions.

The key is that if “the window of improvement” is opened quickly, it also closes quickly. If he’s lucky, that improvement will last about 2 hours. ⏱

To keep the window of improvement open for longer, he needs to keep up with the exercise at home: ideally, 10 reps every hour until the window of improvement eventually lasts a day or two, a week or two, etc. 📈
