Today's workout brought to you by a metric sh*t ton of mulch. I had planned a well balanced upper body workout, but then all this arrived for a project I've been putting off for months, so I changed my plans.

I'm going to be sore in places I wouldn't have been if I did my pullups and presses AND I have the makings of a beautiful garden! Also, I got some vitamin d and introduced the baby to yard work.

St. Pete folks - did you know sanitation department will deliver you a crap ton of mulch for very little money? All of this cost me $50, and I was about to spend $200+ to get less mulch from Home Depot.

Do you ever feel like you're not living up to your potential? Like you have parts of yourself you're not sharing because you're too afraid you won't be accepted or people won't care? Is that just me?

I've been wanting to start my own fitness business and blog for a while. Years! I once started a food/exercise blog waaaaay back in the day when I first found in 2011, but it fizzled out when I didn't keep up with it. Then I had a training Instagram account for a little while a few years ago.

The blog world has changed so much since then and now I feel like if it doesn't look perfect and have sponsors and content then it's worthless to start. But how does anyone get started? They just do. They write what they know and what they like.

So I'm doing it again. I've committed to getting outside my comfort zone in order to live the life I want and am proud of. To live a life that makes my daughter proud. To show her that sometimes things are hard, but maybe that's exactly why we should do them.

Here it goes. is here. It's part blog, part health and fitness coaching business. There you'll find my musings on all things fitness, nutrition, nature, travel, parenting and art. You can book virtual or in person training with me. We can do virtual health coaching! In the next few weeks there will be fitness programs you can download.

I feel strongly about not posting pictures of my kid on social media for a few reasons. Although she's a big part of my life, I don't need to create a digital identity for her before she's able to do it for herself.
I want her to be in charge of what, how much and when she shares her life online.
I want to teach her that social media reactions do not decide her worth and she shouldn't post just for validation.
I want her to know that what she sees online isn't all real.
I want to encourage her to live her life in the real world and not get sucked into the rabbit hole of comparison social media can create.

I consider myself a pretty self aware adult human and I still find my anxiety creeping up and my happiness seeping away when I mindlessly scroll through social media.

Don't get me wrong - I love seeing the pictures of my friends kids and what they're up to. It's how I keep in touch with those that are far away. I'm just making a different choice for my family.

With that said, it's also hard to share my family's adventures without photos of the kiddo. This is my compromise.

We just returned from a fantastic weeklong vacation to Amelia Island and St. Augustine, Florida where we soaked up family time, explored state parks and played at the beach. I'll be sharing a blog post soon about our trip and toddler travel tips!

Movement on vacation doesn't have to be "exercise."

In fact, I'm a huge fan of enjoying vacation for what it is - a break from the day to day grind where we work out, eat salads, and do what we have to do. Vacation is time to unwind, relax, and deload your workout, your mind and your diet.

Enjoy local foods, explore your new locale by foot or bike, and don't stress about the routine. Vacation isn't a routine and that's why it's so glorious! Allow yourself that freedom.

Who else loves going for a barefoot walk in the rain?

It's tough in a Florida summer to get outside in the middle of the day, but we like to take advantage of these rainstorms that cool off the sidewalk and give us an opportunity to splash and feel the ground beneath our feet.

200 medications have depression as a possible side effect. Now, a new study finds people who take these drugs are, in fact, more likely to be depressed. The more drugs you take, the higher the risk.

We took a weeklong workout hiatus to go play and apply our fitness in the jungle and the beach with all kinds of activities! This also gives the body time to rest and recover so we can come back and go harder.

This is why we train. We exercise so we can attack any adventure head on and with confidence! Our Florida training still did not prepare us for elevation, but we had a blast!
