Dr. Richard E. Sorkin, OD, FAAO, FCOVD Board Certified in Vision therapy and Child Development Dr. Sorkin specializes in pediatric Optometry and visual therapy.

The office of Dr. Sorkin was established in 2003 and offers comprehensive vision care services. Dr. Sorkin helps patients with learning related visual problems through his expertise in the field of visual therapy.

Alex is a 4th year student at Nova Southeastern University. “Growing up in Bradenton Fl and I am excited to graduate and begin working in the Tampa Bay Area. My interests in Optometry are pediatrics, glaucoma management, and contact lenses. I hope to one day own a private practice and provide excellent eye care in Florida!”

First pair of glasses and first time seeing clearly for Mr. Lance

After Mom noticed he had to hold things extremely close to see them properly she brought him in for an eye exam.

Specialty lenses for myopia (nearsightedness) will change and grow with Lance as he develops to help protect his eye health and encourage his visual development

Giulia struggled in school-she never wanted to do her work and was always behind in reading. We were looking for something that could support her and her ADHD without medication.

Since therapy her effort to do her work is the compete opposite from before. Her state grades have improved. I see that she feels comfortable reading.
She also has better coordination in sports, improved attention span, and greater self-esteem

👋 Welcome to the team Dr. Samantha Del Campo!
After graduating Cum Laude from Nova Southeastern College of Optometry in 2018 and completing the Honors Program, Dr. Del Campo dedicated herself to advancing vision therapy. Her commitment led her to serve as President of the King County Optometric Association in Washington and to teach future doctors as an adjunct clinical professor at Pacific University. She is also a published author, co-writing “Collaborative Care in Strabismus Surgery” in Advances in Ophthalmology and Optometry, Vol. 10.

In 2024, her years of leadership, education, and contributions to the field were recognized with the President’s Award from the Optometric Development and Vision Rehabilitation Association (OVDRA) — one of the organization’s highest honors.

In 2025, Dr. Del Campo and her husband relocated to Florida to be closer to family, and she’s excited to bring her expertise and passion for patient care to our community! 💙

When should my child have their first eye exam?

The AOA (American Optometric Association) recommends an exam starting at 6 months. Dr. Sorkin uses special equipment to check that your babies eyes are working together (eye teaming), tracking accurately, if they are nearsighted, farsighted or have astigmatism, and the health of the eye to ensure your babies proper visual development. Early detection and intervention is the key for your babies success

Gabi’s cognitive fatigue was the monster that impeded her from doing homework within a reasonable amount of time. Homework would take 4-5 hours most nights starting in seventh grade.
Now Gabi can read at a college level, is reading for pleasure, and can study without cognitive fatigue.
She has more free time and her quality of life has greatly improved.
