A Great Pharmacy Beginning
Over 30 years ago, Harry Jones and his wife Celia set out to establish Sun Pharmacy a local retail pharmacy to serve the families in their Florida community. Their roots in the town grew deep; neighbors were friends and friends were family. These were the people they wanted to serve. In the mid to early 80’s starting a pharmacy was no small feat. It took guts and money. Not to mention the support of the people they were working to help.
The Skilled Nursing Ah Ha Moment
Harry and Celia quickly saw the growing need of pharmacy services within the skilled nursing facility industry, and closed their retail store to focus on servicing this segment of the aging population. They grew their business by providing customized medication delivery systems including 7-day unit dose exchange, 30-day unit dose boxes, punch cards, meds-on-demand, and numerous other offerings. Sun Pharmacy became leaders in the SNF industry; identifying what facility needs were and developing their services around those needs.They began providing IV services and multiple daily deliveries to better serve patients in their client facilities. Sun Pharmacy also offered 24-hour on-call service and consultant pharmacist monthly medication reviews.
