Be our valentine.

Valentine's Day is coming up and we have a unique event just for you!

Valentine's Partner Thai Massage Workshop with Rissa Wray

Rissa has been teaching Partner Thai Massage to everyday couples since 2013! Thai massage is the perfect modality to feel good in your body too as you work on your loved one. The positions are meant to be as easy as possible for you so that you can feel comfortable and pay attention to your partner as they are receiving.

Thai massage (https://www.thaimassagestpete.com/thai-massage) is basically an applied version of yoga - it's very meditative. And, the neat thing about trying something new together is that neither of you is ahead of the other! You both get to show up as beginners, giddy, curious, perhaps a bit nervous... with your best friend by your side :)

Can't make it or not sure if you want to participate in a group? Rissa offers private Couples Thai Massage sessions (poly peeps welcome too, of course).

You can reserve a private session for Valentine's Day here. (https://squareup.com/appointments/book/bg2z2yewiza8bw/FV2KEC8CNDM94/date)

Next workshop in the series is on Thursday, May 30th from 6:30-8pm!

We will discuss the Buddhist concept of KARUNA or compassion - especially for suffering (others’ and our own).

It’s incredible how interconnected we are... when we calm, center, and cultivate compassion, we can show up in a way that makes us proud partners, parents, and people ♥️

In Imago Therapy we teach mindfulness and intentionality in relationships. For partners to have deep and lasting connection we urge them to remain mindful and intentional about how they interact. We encourage them to observe their visceral responses to triggering aspects of their relationship.

As with most behaviors we are acting and reacting from a foundation developed early in childhood. We learned what love was (or seemed to be) and how to get it (in ways that were effective or ineffective) during our earliest and most dependent stages of life.

If we were unhappy and lacked feelings of acceptance, if we were ridiculed or shamed, if we were barely tolerated or abused...we can change that in our adult lives through intentional behaviors. Some of us lead lives of full intention to be or provide to others the role model or experience we did not have. In this way we heal ourselves and allow those we care about to feel the love we did not feel, get the warmth we lacked, and so forth.

Intentionality is also behaving with integrity...in a respectful way for both ourselves and for those we engage with in relationships.

"Often times we think that finding a partner or a spouse is about finding your perfect match.

It’s not.

It’s about finding the person you’re willing to do the work with. The person you’re willing to let all of your insecurities and inadequacies shine bright with so that you can work to overcome them together. It’s about accepting someone (and being accepted) as they / you are in this moment and committing to grow together, even when it gets messy and hard which it most definitely will (because after all, you are two humans joining together and it’s hard enough to be one human alone).

These two, as far as I’ve seen, have always been very open about their journey together as a couple. People can hashtag all day long, but this is the only real relationship goal that matters.

More of this please."
-wise words from my friend Arielle Zadok

You are normal. And you are damn s*xy too!

Great TED talk will put a smile on your face, a pep in your step, and compassion in your heart ♥️

Confidence and joy in your own body are the keys to healthy intimacy, says educator and author Emily Nagoski.

“In terms of healing, what we do know is that pain is universal, but the meaning that we give to our pain, and the way we narrate our pain, is highly cultural and contextual. And there is nothing that helps us deal better with those experiences than our connections with others. Social connection is the No. 1 salve for most of the pain, and the hurt, and the trauma that we will experience.”

From the New Yorker Festival, the couples therapist and podcast host discusses infidelity, apologies, and the problem with wedding vows these days.

Our Story

Rissa first envisioned a way to combine massage and yoga when she was working a desk job after college in 2010... Fortunately, she learned that this already exists in the form of Thai Massage (also called ‘Thai Yoga Massage’)! Within a month, she signed up for massage school and started planning her semester abroad in Thailand. Since 2012, Rissa has been back to Thailand 3 times to study with various teachers and schools, and has devoted her professional career to the study and practice of Thai massage and yoga. While most massage therapists offer a variety of massage modalities, Rissa focuses exclusively on Thai massage. She’s been practicing for over 7 years, and it shows! Each session is devoted to offering what the unique person in front of her needs... passive massage and stretching, heated herbal compress application, Thai cupping or scraping, focused yoga rehab exercises, health consultation and action planning, and referrals. It is Rissa’s philosophy that she is just one proud member of your healthcare team, and that YOU are your own healthcare coordinator. It is also her belief that “If you listen to the body when it whispers, then you won’t have to hear it when it screams.” The best healtcare is preventative, holistic, and person-centered. You will receive the utmost care, attention, respect, and consideration with every session with Rissa. Rissa Wray is a Thai massage practitioner, licensed massage therapist (MA#67263), and certified yoga teacher. Call, text, email, or message for more information, or visit ThaiMassageStPete.com to reserve a session.
