Since Amendment 2 in 2016, Florida patients have had a legal path to medical cannabis for relief from serious health conditions. Here's the lowdown:
🙋‍♂️ Who Can Qualify?
• Florida resident (seasonal or permanent)
• Diagnosed with a qualifying condition by a registered physician
• Enrolled in the Medical Ma*****na Use Registry
• Hold a valid Medical Ma*****na ID Card
Qualifying Conditions Include:
Cancer, epilepsy, glaucoma, HIV/AIDS, PTSD, ALS, Crohn's, chronic pain, MS, terminal illnesses… and more. Physicians can also approve similar conditions.
Your Doctor's Role:
Only OMMU-certified doctors can evaluate your condition, suggest dosage, and register you for legal use.
Medical Ma*****na Registry:
This system connects patients, physicians & licensed MMTCs—tracking approvals and dosage limits in real time.
Getting Your Card:
Apply with proof of residency, a photo, and the $75 fee. Cards renew yearly.
Buying & Using Cannabis:
• Products available: oils, capsules, tinctures, edibles, vaporizers, and limited smokable flower.
• Only from licensed MMTCs—no home growing allowed.
• Purchase amounts are based on your doctor's recommendations.
Where You Can Use:
Private homes only. No public use—that includes cars, parks, schools, and federal property.
Important Legal Notes:
• Employers aren't required to accommodate cannabis use
• Fi****ms while using cannabis are illegal federally
• Transport across state lines or on planes, trains, buses is prohibited
