The Fifth Generation Joins Basler Funeral Home

Basler Funeral Home proudly welcomes its fifth generation with the addition of Luke Basler, who stands alongside his father, Eric Basler, representing the fourth generation of family service. Luke continues a long-standing legacy of dedication to the Ste. Genevieve community that began in 1898.

Luke follows in the footsteps of his great-great-grandfather John (Sophia) Basler, great-grandfather Leo “Pumkin” (Agnes) Basler, grandfather Leo “Chipper” (Carolyn) Basler, and his father Eric (Julie) Basler.

A recent graduate of Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Luke earned a Bachelor of Science in Mortuary Science and Funeral Service. He is a licensed Funeral Director in Missouri, as well as an apprentice embalmer in Missouri and an apprentice funeral director and embalmer in Illinois.

Luke will be actively involved in nearly every aspect of the funeral home’s operations, working alongside the exceptional team of Sara Oppermann, Krista Shuh, and Candy Terrell.

“To carry on the family tradition and serve this community is a great honor,” said Luke. He looks forward to guiding families through meaningful services that celebrate and honor their loved ones—for generations to come.
