Hi everyone! I’m Christie Hurst, Family Nurse Practitioner, and I am excited to officially introduce myself as the newest team member at Creekside Family Practice.
My passion for patient care began back in 1990 as a nursing aide. After taking some time away to focus on family and other ventures, I returned to pursue my passion for healthcare—becoming a Licensed Vocational Nurse, then earning my Associate Degree in Nursing to become a Registered Nurse, followed by my Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and ultimately completing my Master of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
Along the way, I’ve had the privilege of working in a wide range of specialties including medical/surgical care, internal medicine, allergy, pulmonology, cardiology, gastroenterology, ENT, and plastics. These experiences have shaped my approach to patient care and allow me to look at the whole picture when caring for my patients.
I also had the privilege of completing a four-month clinical internship in functional medicine under the mentorship of an exceptional physician and nurse practitioner. This experience gave me a deep appreciation for root-cause medicine and a balanced approach to care—combining evidence-based treatments, natural and holistic therapies, and medications when appropriate to best support each patient’s health.
My true passion is family practice. I believe in a holistic approach to care—focusing on the whole person while also using medications appropriately to support health and healing. I enjoy working with patients of all ages and helping each individual reach their own unique health goals.
Before returning to nursing full-time, I spent almost 8 years running daycares, which gave me a special love for working with children and families. That experience continues to influence how I connect with my patients today.
I am a Christian, and my faith is an important part of who I am. My husband retired from the Army after serving for over 30 years, and we chose to make Salado our home because my parents and family live here. My granddaughter attends Salado Middle School, and this community means so much to our family.
I am here for the long haul and believe that continuity of care and building long-term relationships are key to truly supporting the health of our patients.
I am currently accepting new patients and would love the opportunity to care for you and your family.
I am excited to be a part of your healthcare journey.
