What a scary situation with such an amazing outcome!

On the evening of October 14th 2025, the unthinkable happened at a Detroit City Council meeting. One of the councilors went into sudden cardiac arrest.

Craig Wolfe, a technician with Hear No Evil, was in attendance at the meeting to assist city staff with the sound system. Recognizing the incident right away, he jumped into action and performed life-saving CPR on the councilor.

Others who were present at the meeting also performed CPR on the councilor until the arrival of our EMS crew. An AED was applied and the councilor received several shocks before regaining his pulse.

The councilor was taken by Lyons Ambulance to a nearby landing zone, and he was flown to a local hospital via Life Flight. He has since been discharged from the hospital and remains in a medical rehabilitation facility. He is expected to make a full recovery.

Idanha-Detroit RFPD presented a letter and certificate of commendation to Craig Wolfe at tonight's Detroit City Council meeting to thank him for his outstanding life-saving efforts and early recognition of the need for CPR.

Today kicks of Youth HOPE Month! Youth HOPE — which stands for Homeless Outreach Prevention and Education — is a national campaign led by the to raise awareness and inspire action for young people experiencing homelessness or housing instability.

At Northwest Human Services, our HOST (Health, Outreach, Shelter, and Transitions) program embodies that mission every day — providing counseling, case management, housing support, and connection to education and employment for youth ages 18–24.

This month, we honor the strength and resilience of youth in our community — and the dedicated HOST team working to ensure that every young person has a safe place to turn and a hopeful path forward.

Each year, our Hope & Wellness Department leads this special initiative to help bring joy to families in our community during the holiday season. We’ve been so fortunate to be on the receiving end of so many generous donations, thanks to supporters like you!

This Toy Drive isn’t just about receiving; it’s also about giving. It’s a wonderful opportunity for our kids to not only enjoy the excitement of gifts but also to develop empathy and kindness by choosing presents for their loved ones. 🎄💫
