You are the first responder to your own life.
That’s the mindset I’ll be teaching tomorrow night to a team of employees from three small businesses in downtown Salem: and the Salem Mathnasium.

We’ll cover:
✔️ How to read the room and trust your gut
✔️ What to say—and not say—when something feels off
✔️ How to de-escalate without escalating your own stress
✔️ The power of boundaries, calm exits, and early action

This training isn’t about fear. It’s about clarity, confidence, and control.
I bring practical tools to small businesses—no fluff, no scare tactics. Just real-world strategies that work.

🧠 Want something like this for your team? I’ll come to you, tailor the session to your needs, and give your staff tools they’ll actually use.

💥 And ladies—join me on August 7th at Gallagher Fitness for a special public session designed just for you. We’ll cover safety, boundaries, and how to feel powerful—not paranoid—in everyday life.

Tomorrow I’ll be attending the SKPS State Safety Summit—a day dedicated to learning from those who’ve responded to some of the most serious school and community threats in our country.

We’ll hear directly from leaders who’ve faced the unthinkable—from Columbine to Umpqua—and who now teach others how to prepare, respond, and recover.

I don’t take lightly the fact that many of us send kids, grandkids, nieces, or nephews off to school every day with the silent hope that they’ll just be safe.

As someone who teaches safety and de-escalation skills to women and teens, I’m always looking for ways to stay sharp—and to bring back practical, calm, doable tools for real life.

More to come. Grateful to be in the room.

📣 For those attending the No Kings protest today: Stay safe. Stay aware. Stay grounded.

Protests can be powerful — but they can also shift quickly. Here’s how to protect yourself:

1. Trust your instincts.
If something feels off, it probably is. Don’t ignore that signal.

2. Know your exits.
Always identify at least two ways out of the area you’re in.

3. Don’t go alone.
Stick with a buddy and set a check-in plan in case you get separated.

4. Stay calm, not reactive.
Escalation thrives on chaos. Your calm is your power.

5. Avoid arguing with agitators.
You’re not here to convince anyone. You’re here to show up — smart, safe, and strong.

6. Prep your phone:
🔋 Fully charged
📴 Airplane mode or tracking on

Because you’ve learned the difference between reacting out of fear… and responding with calm, confident control.

That’s the power of real-world safety training.

Why do we de-escalate? Because when people’s basic needs—like safety, belonging, and respect—aren’t being met, they’re more likely to act out.

Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs shows us this clearly: when someone feels threatened, unheard, or unseen, conflict can boil over.

De-escalation isn’t just about stopping a fight. It’s about understanding the root of frustration, holding your own boundaries, and remembering that no matter what someone else is experiencing, your safety and peace of mind are non-negotiable.

We teach these skills because when you see the human need underneath, you can respond with calm—not fear.
