Thank you PNW Doulas! Always a good reminder about these red flag symptoms for our post partum population!

While we expect there to be a period of recovery after having a baby, we’re expecting people to feel progressively BETTER.

If, at any point, you begin to feel worse, that is a giant 🚩 RED FLAG 🚩

Having a baby can be hard on your body, but it isn’t a reason to suffer. You deserve to feel well.

Please contact your provider if you develop symptoms postpartum. Feeling worse instead of better is not normal.

Next up in our discussion about urinary incontinence is urge incontinence. This type is incredibly common, and sometimes goes undetected for quite some time until symptoms become debilitating.
Did you know—
Fact #1: The normal amount of urine voids per day (for a hydrated adult) is 6-8. Which equates to about every 3-4 hours.
Fact #2: Your bladder can hold about 16oz of urine.
Often when an individual starts to have issues with urge incontinence, frequency goes up and they get further away from those normal bladder habits listed above.

Each month we are going to start tackling a topic. For February, we decided to chat about urinary incontinence.

No matter what season of life you are in, what gender you identify with, if you have given birth to kids or not- leaking urine is NEVER a normal action and it is a sign that there is something that needs to be addressed in the body. It can be as easy as fixing/adding a dietary habit, working on how frequently (or infrequently) you go to the bathroom, working on posture, or working on muscle control and/or coordination.

Urinary incontinence may be the most common thing that we treat. And we get the pleasure at the Pelvic Wellness Center of seeing symptoms improve (and often quite rapidly!)

When COIVD prevents you from presenting at a local CrossFit gym -- you make a video!
