Hello again! It’s been a rocky couple of months.
Silas was born healthy in late August. Unfortunately, I had some very serious complications shortly after, had multiple emergency surgeries, and was in the hospital for a few weeks. About a month ago, I was finally well enough to see my girl again, and introduce baby!

It’s been a long road recovering, and there is still a longer way to go before I am feeling 100%. This means I will not be able to work with any clients for the rest of the winter, potentially into spring.

I am always happy to answer questions regarding bodywork and your horse. While I cannot diagnose any problems, I may be able to offer insight on situations, suggest things you can do at home, or refer you to another body worker that is taking clients.

I am officially on maternity leave! The little guy hasn’t arrived yet, but I am getting to the point where I am unable to effectively massage my clients. I am dedicating a couple uninterrupted months to baby boy and healing myself once he gets here. This means I won’t be taking any clients until at least the end of October, and I plan on slowly easing back into work. I am still available to answer questions, but replies will be delayed.

Thank you so much to all my friends, family and clients for your support, consideration and patience during this special time.

This pregnant cutey got a much needed massage today! She positioned herself right where she wanted work: her shoulders and her back end. ❤️ Hopefully the little one won’t take too much longer, she is starting to look uncomfortable.

An added benefit of massage is that it can help get some of that hair out. All this half a session 😂

Miss Winnie is such a cutie! She is a newer addition to her owner’s herd and it is suspected she didn’t have the best past. She is curious but very cautious of humans. She is getting shorter more frequent massages so her and I can build trust. Touch is a great way to build trust with horses whether that is massage, grooming or a simple pat. Winnie had a great session and came back up to me for a picture afterwards! ❤️

Happy adoptiversary and birthday, Holly! 3 years ago I made the best decision to adopt my sweet baby dragon angel. I have always love big draft horses and never thought I would own an Arabian. I saw her spicy but beautiful tantrums while lunging and I fell in love with it. I started spending time with her to get to know her. And then the day she wrapped her head around me while grooming and just stood there, I knew she had picked me. I thought it would be years before I got my first horse. But Holly demanded now. She makes up for the non-draft with her big personality 😂

She had been adopted and returned multiple times and we were told “she’s good until she’s not”. I have never seen a “not”. She sometimes throws tantrums when I ask her to work harder but it usually ends up with me laughing while trying to keep a straight face. And occasionally it ends up with her tripping during the tantrum and her looking so embarrassed about it. I am so proud of how far she has come and how far we have come as a team. She made me work for the bond, and it is so strong. Even though Holly’s motto is “She is beauty, she is grace, she will fall on her face”, (yes, she has faceplanted before) I know that she will never intentionally hurt me. And she will always protect me from the geldings with her mare stare.

Happy adoptiversary and 13th birthday, Holly!

Let your horse soak.
Let. Your. Horse. Soak.
Seriously - let your horse soak.

As humans, we get so busy in the doing. And there are certainly moments where you need to get the doing done. But when that moment has passed, take a pause. Breathe a deep breath. And let your horse soak.

Give them a moment, or five. Wait. Breathe. Relax. Your horse may fidget, waiting for the next instruction. Keep letting them soak. They may give you a lick and chew. Keep letting them soak. Allow your energy to drip down your body and into your toes. And let your horse soak. Let them soak until they take a deep breath and blow out. Then give them some appreciation, and another moment to pause before moving on to the next instruction. Or maybe that's a good note, and it's time to stop working.

That soak time is integration time. It gives their body and their brain time to move from activation into relaxation. If you give them a moment to soak, over time that release will become a part of the activation. Your horse will move with a natural relaxed awareness. That's when you know they are with you, and you are together.

So let them soak, and let it take as long as it takes to get that deep blow out and truth in relaxation.
