Ok, here is one of my BIGGEST lessons lately:
The thinking mind is ALWAYS looking for problems.
To the point that if it sees a circumstance that *could* be, *might* be a problem, it automatically slaps on the “problem” label.
Then what happens? If you’re anything like me…instant anxiety.
What is that anxiety a sign of?
Not trusting.
If someone you trust unconditionally, who has never let you down, says to you, “hey, this thing came up but I’m taking care of it for you, don’t even worry,” in a perfect world you would barely feel a thing about it. It would just feel like “oh wow, great, thank you so much!!”
IRL, our minds tend not to operate that way, again, at least if you’re like me 😉
What it more often looks like is, something comes up in life that looks like it’s a problem that needs solving. For many of us, the spirit of life itself may not show up super clearly in words, so we’re not getting the message, “hey, this thing came up but I’m taking care of it for you, don’t even worry!”
In fact the “thing that came up” might not be a problem AT ALL. The “problem” label often comes from the thinking mind, who is skipping a step and making assumptions.
That step it skipped is to pause, use some discernment, and go “hmm…this LOOKS like a problem…but is it?? Inner voice, is it a problem I need to solve?”
(Inner voice being what I call our infinite inner wisdom and source of unconditional love and truth that we all have access to)
Sometimes the answer will be “Nope! Not a problem! Just hang tight and we’ll make it all clear soon. You can trust it’s all ok.”
Sometimes the answer will be “We wouldn’t call it a problem, but here’s some inspiration and clear guidance about what your next step should be. We’ll be here every step of the way, don’t worry.”
The fear, the anxiety, the worry…all comes from the untrusting mind—Who either doesn’t know there’s a source of inner wisdom to lean on and ask these questions to, or is too scared to ask, and too scared to do things differently than the solutions it would come up with…
(which by the way, are often short sighted solutions by virtue of the fact that we can’t hold all the information in the universe in our brains at one time 🙃)
The fact is, if you’re becoming a bigger player in the world—Making bigger moves, more connections, generating bigger desires—YOU’RE GOING TO HAVE TO TRUST.
(I’m saying it to me too lol)
Why?? Because it is not the thinking mind’s job to hold ALL of that. It’s too big of a job to be searching your life up and down for potential problems, figuring out solutions, trying to predict the future which is impossible…
It’s a cruel job to give anyone.
Your mind deserves a rest. It’s like a lot of us have been giving our minds scope creep without even realizing it.
Like “hey! Can you do all the things in your normal job description, but also this and this and this and this and by the way there aren’t enough hours in the day for all of it especially when you haven’t had the training and all of this sh*t isn’t in your natural skillset but can you just like kind of make it work? Ok that would be greeeaaat ✌🏼”
Like…how rude hahaha
The good news is this is optional. “We” the thinking minds don’t have to navigate all of life by ourselves. We have infinite resources…if we’re willing to ask and receive.
This is why I created Trust Yourself (well really my inner voice did…I literally just had the inspiration for a workshop and asked my inner voice what it wanted it to be about haha)
Trust Yourself is a group inner voice meditation event. For this second round, I’m hosting us on Zoom (and this might be the last time I share about it unless I’m inspired otherwise this week)!
👉🏼 THIS Saturday, June 15th
👉🏼 1-3pm EDT (no, we won’t be meditating for 2 solid hours haha)
If you’re thinking “eek but I’m so bad at meditating,” please join us. If you’re thinking “I’ve never tried meditating before, I’m kind of intimidated and it seems hard??” Please join us. If you’ve been practicing already for years and years, please join us. The event is designed to be friendly and beneficial for all experience levels.
If it feels like a “yes!” Then I’m excited to have you! Details, testimonials, and registration are in the comments 🖤
