The night of my high school graduation, a cloud settled over me that did not lift for years.
I was eighteen. I had no idea I was already in physiology.

For most of my twenties I called it depression. Everybody around me called it depression. Every doctor who reached for a prescription pad called it depression.

It was not depression. It was grief — for a future I had been quietly taught was already over.

I was a teenage girl watching the climate-apocalypse narrative roll out in real time. Watching 9/11. Watching pre-emptive strike become ordinary. Watching every hopeful thing I could have attached my life to turn to ash before I was old enough to reach for it.

And my nervous system — the nervous system of a girl who was already carrying things she had not told anyone — quietly decided there was no point.

This is what twenty years of sitting with my own physiology taught me: the body does not know the difference between ā€œthe world is endingā€ and ā€œI am ending.ā€ It reads the signal. It shuts the lights off where it can.
So when a woman sits down across from me at forty-six and was told her labs are ā€œnormalā€ and maybe she should try a little more self-care — I want to burn the room down.

You are not lazy. You are not crazy. You are not failing.

This is beautiful nervous system regulation. I didn’t sleep much last night. Had a 10 hour travel day. Worked most of the time. Got middle seats on both flights. Found out my bag is delayed. And it didn’t affect me one bit. I’m still happy, still breathing. I’m still relaxing my jaw. And they deliver the bag by tomorrow. How does embodiment map to health and medicine?

Take the thyroid, for example. Yes, it helps regulate metabolism. But energetically, it’s also connected to the throat center: voice, truth, expression, and how well we listen. Not just to others—but to our own body and the messages it’s sending.

For me, my thyroid has been an invitation to stop over-accommodating big egos. To stop quieting my voice. To stop stuffing emotions. To face old physical trauma and unresolved stress held in the body.

The body communicates constantly—in subtle and not-so-subtle ways. Symptoms are often signals, not betrayals.

Embodiment is becoming the version of me who speaks up and speaks clearly. The woman who asks for what she wants and honors her own needs. And yes—we can be deeply grateful for what we have and still desire more. Those truths can coexist.

Embodiment is a core pillar of my SAGE System. It’s how healing becomes lived reality. It’s how we activate the choices to nourish ourselves well, move daily, sleep deeply, and regulate stress.

Detox isn’t a cleanse.
It’s a system your body is running every second.

And honestly… this is where most people get it completely wrong.

You don’t need to ā€œturn detox on.ā€
Your body is already doing it. Right now. Constantly.

šŸ‘‰ The real question is:
Are you supporting it… or overwhelming it?

Let’s break it down simply:

Your body detoxes in 3 phases:

Phase I — Activation
Your liver starts breaking toxins down
āž”ļø Think: unpacking the box

Here’s the catch:
This step actually makes toxins more reactive (temporarily)

Phase II — Neutralization
Your body binds those compounds so they can be safely removed
āž”ļø Think: wrapping it for disposal

This step depends on:
• Protein (amino acids)
• B vitamins
• Minerals

No nutrients = no safe processing

Phase III — Elimination
Now you actually get rid of it:
• Bile → stool
• Kidneys → urine
āž”ļø Think: taking out the trash

Here’s where things fall apart:

Most people don’t have a toxin problem.
They have a processing problem.

I see this every day:
• Not eating enough protein
• Sluggish digestion / poor bile flow

Your HRT Might Be Hurting You

HRT isn’t ā€œbad.ā€
But giving hormones to a body that isn’t ready for them? That’s where problems start.

Here’s what most people are never told:

1. Testosterone isn’t just about libido and muscle
It increases red blood cell production.
That sounds great… until your body starts pulling from your iron stores to keep up.

šŸ‘‰ Low iron = fatigue, hair loss, poor thyroid function
šŸ‘‰ And now your metabolism and detox processes start to slow

2. Estrogen and progesterone need balance — not just more hormones
If estrogen is already high or not being cleared well, it can block progesterone receptors.

So when you add progesterone?
šŸ‘‰ You might feel worse
šŸ‘‰ Think bloating, swelling, heavy, puffy feeling

It’s not that progesterone is the problem —
it’s that your body can’t *hear it.*

3. Estrogen has to be detoxed properly
Your body breaks estrogen down into different pathways.

One of them (the 4-OH pathway) can create compounds that damage DNA if not cleared well.

How Snacking Curb-Stomps Your Digestion

Snacking has become normalized.

We’re told:

* eat every 2–3 hours
* keep your blood sugar stable
* never let yourself get hungry

But what I see clinically tells a very different story.

Your digestive system was not designed to be ā€œonā€ all day.

Every time you eat, your body initiates a full digestive response:

* stomach acid release
* enzyme production
* bile flow
* insulin response

That’s not a small task.

That’s a metabolic event.

Now imagine doing that… all day long.

A snack here.
A bite there.
A handful of something in between.

Your body never gets a break.

And here’s what most people don’t know:

Between meals, your gut runs a critical process called
šŸ‘‰ Migrating Motor Complex

This is your body’s "clean-up crew."

It:

* sweeps out leftover food
* clears bacteria from the small intestine
* resets the digestive tract

But it only activates when you are NOT eating.

Every time you snack…

šŸ‘‰ You shut it off.

The result?

Over time, this can contribute to:

* blood sugar dysregulation (initially)
* high training demands
* certain phases of healing

But for many people…
