OHA today lifted an alert it issued for Cannon Beach at Gower Creek after laboratory tests on samples collected near a sewage spill show there is low risk of exposure to f***l bacteria.

The Oregon Beach Monitoring Program, based at OHA, issued the alert Oct. 27 based on a reported sewage overflow at the Gower Creek outfall, where the creek spills into Cannon Beach.

Contact with ocean water no longer poses a higher-than-normal risk.

New behavioral health crisis center Expands access to care in Marion County

Marion County Health & Human Services has opened its newly expanded Behavioral Health Crisis Center — strengthening Oregon’s behavioral health system and expanding access to crisis care.

With support from the Oregon Health Authority and $2.9 million in state funding, the renovated facility at 1234 Commercial St. SE in Salem offers more space, updated technology and a calm, welcoming environment for those in need.

“This new facility reflects what’s possible when local and state partners work together to create a system that meets people where they are — with dignity, support and hope,” said OHA Behavioral Health Director Ebony Clarke.

Open 24/7, the Crisis Center provides intervention, assessment and stabilization services — no insurance required.

If you or someone you know is in crisis, call 503-585-4949.
