No matter how your baby arrived, you did something EXTRAORDINARY. ✨

And if your birth didn’t go to plan, it’s okay if it doesn’t feel that way yet. Birth trauma is real - and acknowledging it doesn’t take anything away from what you did. 💙

Another unfinished, poor photo, mini birth work in progress.
I'm so excited to be exhibiting at ICM's congress in June 2026 in Lisbon, Portugal. I hope to have 20 new small birth paintings, prints and cards available!

If anyone has contacts or knowledge of resources in Portugal or Europe, please pass them on! I'm looking for suggestions for creative simple booth display and design, and local or European print houses for archival prints. I'd love to take recommendations!

I can't wait for this event. 2026 is promising to be exciting for events and right now my head is swirling with ideas and plans.
I hope to see friends in June in Portugal! I can't wait to meet in person!

As above, so below…

On about Day 15 of embryonic development, two tiny depressions form side by side.

One will become the opening of the mouth.

The other will become the opening of the reproductive system.

How wild (and beautiful) is that connection?

This artwork by the incredibly talented captures those early similarities so well.

As we grow, those connections don’t disappear:

The vagus nerve (a key player in our stress + nervous system regulation) connects the cervix to the voice box.

A web of fascia links the jaw to the pelvic bowl.

So when we talk about pelvic health, we’re not just talking about “down there.”

We’re talking about the whole system… voice, jaw, nervous system, pelvis… all communicating with each other.

Your pelvic floor is part of a much bigger story.💜

Terrible quick fading light wet paint photo- but a sign of what's to come.... A goal of more than 20 small new birth paintings for a spring exhibit in Portugal, inspired from my vast Birth Project submissions library.

And maybe working on a second show next year? Exciting season moving into my dark snowy work period 🖌️

Thank you to all midwives, nurses, doctors, doulas, moms and others that are truly giving of themselves and working today to bring beautiful babies in this world. 🍁🍂🦃🍗

Losing your innocence to pregnancy, infancy, child loss is understanding that those sweet, snuggly, happy, precious baby items people purchase from the store may have been held, hugged, maybe even cried on...

It might seem like birthing on your back is just the way it's always been, but that couldn't be farther from the truth.

Throughout most of human history, people gave birth upright. That could be squatting, kneeling, sitting, or straight up standing. This lets gravity do some of the work.

But how did lying flat become standard? Well, in the 18th and 19th centuries (1700's and 1800's) doctors began taking over birth from midwives. This position made it easier for the doctor to see and perform procedures/manage the birth, not necessarily easier for the birthing person.

These days we know there's no "right" position, but upright and active positions have been shown to shorten labor and help the baby descend more smoothly.

Birth works best when we let bodies do what they were designed to do.

One of the cheapest, most helpful pregnancy hacks EVER (this 4lb bag was LESS THAN $4!!)

Pregnancy asks so much of your body — physically, emotionally, and energetically. An Epsom salt bath can be such a simple way to refill your cup. 🌿

✨ Why it helps:
Epsom salt is rich in magnesium sulfate, a naturally occurring mineral that the body absorbs through the skin. Magnesium helps:
💧 Ease muscle tension and cramping
💧 Calm the nervous system and support better sleep
💧 Reduce swelling and soreness
💧 Encourage relaxation for both body and mind

Soaking in warm (not hot) water allows your muscles to soften, your breath to deepen, and your body to receive a quiet dose of nourishment. It's like a gentle exhale for your whole body!!!

🛁 How to enjoy it:
Add 1–2 cups of pure Epsom salt to your bath and soak for 15–20 minutes. Light a candle, sip your electrolytes or NORA tea, and give yourself permission to relax ❤
