HAPPY DANCE INFORMATION!

WHO ARE WE?

The Happy Dance is run with 100% volunteer energy. We consist of parents, people who work in the field of disabilities, and others who share a common goal to enrich the lives of people with special needs. We are sponsored by Evans Creek Retreat. If you would like more information leave Michelle a message at 503-588-1314 (no text). And here's a tip...to insure you are one of the first to hear about any fun events that may be offered throughout the year simply provide your email address & phone number.

October 1 & 15 (15 is the Halloween dance - wear a costume)

December 3 & 17 (17 is the Holiday party & dance)

2023 Happy Dances

Where? - Houck Middle School
1155 Connecticut Avenue

Cost? - $3.00
(caregivers - no charge)

When? - 3:00 to 5:00 pm
(on most 1st & 3rd Sunday afternoons)

Please do not drop people off unless you are sure our group is using the building. Individuals attending without a support person must be independent.

Snack Bar: all drinks, snacks, and candy is $1

The Happy Dance Rules:

1. No smoking on school property

2. Caregivers must supervise clients who could create a problem for others

3. Please avoid inappropriate displays of affection

4. Clean up your own mess (we are volunteers)

5. People who behave inappropriately will be asked to leave.

6. Guests must be at least 18 years old

Sorry for the confusion about the Dances! The good news is there are dances happening, thanks to Michelle McKenzie!

Here is the information:

Greetings to our new and old dancing friends,

The dances at Houck Middle School in Salem for adults with special needs are back.

Saturday, October 29th between 7 and 9 pm.
No one under 18 will be allowed inside the building.

Wear a Halloween costume, get your picture taken and get a treat!

Tickets will be available at the door for $3. No charge for caregivers.

Dancers who bring a 3x5 card with the following information will get a Fast Pass for express entry. Others must register by completing a registration card before obtaining a ticket. The needed information is as follows:

Name - address - home phone - emergency contact person - email address

Registered dancers will be notified via email if there is a need to cancel a planned dance.

Individuals who are unable to follow these rules will be asked to leave without a refund. Please walk away from problems and report them to our security guard. This will be a safe and happy dance for everyone!

1. No one under 18 will be admitted.
2. No rude talk or behavior.
3. No photos of other dancers without their permission.
4. No inappropriate displays of affection.

Please note that future dances will be held at a new time and day!

November 6th & 20th and December 4 & 18, on Sundays between 3 & 5pm

The 2023 dance schedule will be available at the Christmas dance on the 18th.

We are sad to announce that the Upward Bound Camp Dance will continue to be on hiatus until further notice. A few of you have enjoyed our Zoom Dances over the last year and we were always happy to see whoever joined! Sadly, we just don't have the staffing power to conintue to support this on Zoom and we don't feel quite ready to come together in large groups. Follow the Upward Bound Camp page for any further announcements related to the Dances.

This will give you a good laugh if you need one. We learned a lot doing this initial FB Live event which debuted on our Upward Bound Camp Page 4/28/2020. We intend to host a FB Live event at least for the next few weeks every Tuesday at 1:00pm Pacific Time. Looking at the brighter side of things, we can only get better from here!
