Edward Donald Geheb entered eternal rest April 1, 2026, at the age of ninety-seven years. He was born March 10, 1929, in Beaumont, Texas, to Edward George and Alma (Underbrink) Geheb. Born and raised in Beaumont, Edward was one of twelve children.

Edward proudly served his country in the United States Army until receiving an honorable discharge. During his time in the service, he met the love of his life, Ellen Rose Rottinghaus. The two were married on September 3, 1952, after he first spotted her walking down the street, moment that would begin a lifelong love story. Ellen preceded him in death on August 31, 2013.

Together, Edward and Ellen built a life centered on faith, family, and hard work, raising seven children Gayle, Bob, Tom, Pat, Judy, Mary Jo, and Margaret. Edward was a skilled and dedicated man who worked as a carpenter, cattle rancher, and farmer, raising rice and soybeans for many years until his retirement. He built the family home with his own hands and had a natural talent for working on tractors, often building and tinkering with them.

After their children were grown, Edward and Ellen enjoyed traveling together, especially to Mexico and the beaches of Florida, where they loved walking along the shore and collecting seashells.
Edward was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who cherished his family deeply, especially his grandchildren. He was a faithful member of St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church until his health declined.

Left behind to cherish his memory include his children: Gayle Anderson and husband Gene of Mason City, IA, Bob Geheb of Potosi, MO, Pat Geheb of Potosi, MO, Judy McClendon of Potosi, MO, Mary Jo White of St. Louis, MO, and Margaret Kilman and husband Eric of Kissimmee, FL; eight grandchildren; as well as a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Preceding him in death were his loving wife: Ellen (Rottinghaus) Geheb; son: Tom Geheb; and his parents: Edward and Alma (Underbrink) Geheb.

Edward will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his devotion to his family, and the legacy of love and faith he leaves behind.

Julia Ann Batstone, the daughter of Fred Batstone and Alice (Ackerly) Shaver, was born on July 21, 1965, in Patchogue, New York. She passed away April 1, 2026, in Salem, Missouri, at the age of sixty years.

Julia had a deep love for her family, especially her nieces and nephews, whom she cherished as her own. She had a kind and helpful nature, always taking an interest in others and offering a warm, welcoming presence. She attended Salem First Baptist Church, where she found great joy in sharing her faith in Jesus with others.

Julia worked for many years as a stocker at Wal-Mart, where she was known for her dedication and friendships she built with coworkers, whom she considered family. In her free time, she enjoyed online gaming, which brought her both entertainment and connection with others.

Those left behind to treasure her memory include her mother: Alice Shaver; siblings: Janet Torres and husband Jesus’, Ken Batstone and wife Charlene, and Deb Rand and husband Don; nieces and nephews: Dan, Cliff, Matt, Cori and Ashley, and Nathan and Sarah; great-nieces and nephews: Destiny, Allison, Kevin, Jacob, LeMarcus, Honey, Sera, Teddy, Tony and Lexi; as well as her Wal-Mart Family, Salem First Baptist Church Family, and dear friends.

Preceding her in death were her father: Fred Batstone; and her niece: Sarah Batstone.

Julia will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her kindness, and the joy she brought to those around her. Her sweet spirit and contagious smile left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. She will be deeply missed.

Dorothy Jean Shanor, born March 23, 1953, in Florence, Arizona, passed away March 30, 2026, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of seventy-three years.

Dorothy was the daughter of Louis and Viola (Bacon) Shanor. She was one of eight children and shared a strong bond with her siblings throughout her life. Her family was most important to her, and she treasured making memories with her nieces and nephews. As a young child, she attended Salem First Baptist Church with her family.

Dorothy was a dedicated homemaker who found joy in caring for her home and the simple pleasures of country living. She loved animals and kept a variety of small farm animals, including rabbits, cats, chickens, and ducks. Gardening was one of her favorite pastimes, and she took great pride in tending to her plants.

Dorothy is survived by her siblings: Robert Shanor of Salem, MO, James Shanor of Mississippi, Linda Shanor of Salem, MO, Eugene Shanor and Shari Swaringen of Imperial, MO, and Kathy Stuart of Mississippi; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents: Louis and Viola (Bacon) Shanor; brother: Herbert Shanor; sister: Barbara Shanor; and niece: Stacy Shanor.

Known for her independent nature, Dorothy often kept to herself, but those who knew her well recognized her kind and good-hearted spirit. She will be remembered for the quite strength she has carried throughout her life. Dorothy will be forever missed.

Carolyn Joyce (Comely) Brown was born on January 18, 1940, in Eminence, Missouri. She was the daughter of Cordell and Ellen (Martin) Brown. Carolyn was raised in Grassy Hollow and graduated from Eminence High School.

Carolyn was united in marriage to Lester Brown and shared many lasting memories before his passing on March 1, 1994. She was the proud mother of daughters: Mary, Elizabeth, Debra, and Betty and son: Charles. Carolyn cherished her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her endless joy.

Carolyn lived a life rooted in faith, family, and compassion. She worked as a home health caregiver, where her gentle spirit and caring nature touched the lives of many.

Carolyn was known for her warm heart and playful personality. She had a special love for children, often sharing candy, hugs, and smiles with them. She enjoyed playing bingo, working on puzzle books, and reading romance novels. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she attended Grace Community Church.

Carolyn passed away on March 21, 2026, in St. Louis, Missouri, at the age of eighty-six years. She is survived by her daughters: Mary Ryffel of Forsyth, MO, Elizabeth Braden of Maroa, IL, Debra Schaedel and husband Bobby of Higbee, MO, and Betty Mayer and husband Tom of Granite City, IL; son: Charles Brown of Salem, MO; brother: Donald Comely and wife Marlene; sister: Margaret Ard; a host of beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.

Preceding her in death were her loving husband: Lester Brown; son: Howard “Eugene” Piatt; and parents: Cordell and Ellen Comely.

Carolyn will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. Those who knew her will remember her as simple, stubborn, sassy, and a true firecracker.

Martin Andrew Bell passed away peacefully on March 23, 2026, in Rolla, Missouri, at the age of seventy-five, surrounded by the memories of a life well lived and deeply cherished.

Martin was born on October 31, 1950, in Howes Mill, Missouri. He was the son of Noah and Melba (Counts) Bell. Martin graduated from Salem High School in 1968 and went on to build a life rooted in hard work, dedication, and love for his family.

On March 29, 1975, he married the love of his life, Brenda Jo Hayes. Their marriage was one of deep devotion and partnership until her passing on June 2, 2013. Martin and Brenda were blessed with two daughters, Angela and Andrea. Family meant everything to him.

Martin devoted many years of service as an equipment operator with MODOT, retiring in 2011. Known for his strong work ethic and quiet reliability, he took great pride in providing for his family and doing a job well. Outside of work, Martin found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved hunting, being outdoors, and, most of all, spending time with his family. He rarely missed an opportunity to attend his grandchildren’s ballgames, where he could often be found cheering them on with pride and a smile.

Martin’s greatest legacy is the family he loved so deeply. He is survived by his daughters: Angela K. Bowers and husband Justin of Salem, MO and Andrea Bell of St. James, MO; grandchildren: Alyssa Bowers and fiancé Matt Russell, Ashton Bowers and friend Randon Mahurin, and Josie Bowers; great-grandchildren: Millie Russell and Baby Boy Russell arriving in June; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends.

Preceding him in death were his wife: Brenda (Hayes) Bell; parents: Noah and Melba (Counts) Bell; and his brother: Noel Bell Sr.

Martin will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, and friend. A man of quiet strength, kind heart, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
