Originally from California, Dr. Edwin N. Austin graduated from Stanford University, receiving a B.S. with Distinction in Biological Sciences. He was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa honor society, and a recipient of the prestigious American Heart Association Student Research Fellowship. Dr. Austin then completed his medical degree at the UCLA School of Medicine in Los Angeles, where he was an Alpha Omega Alpha member and recipient of the Gladys M. Shea Prize in Anatomical Sciences.
After receiving his medical degree, Dr. Austin completed his internship and general surgery residency training at the University of Washington Affiliated Hospitals in Seattle. He also completed residency training in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor.
Dr. Austin is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He began his career in 1992 at Skagit Valley Medical Center in Mount Vernon, Washington, and soon opened his own private practice in plastic and reconstructive surgery in Salem, Oregon. He has maintained his private practice in Salem since 1996. His high quality of care includes a calming bedside manner, excellent rapport with patients, nursing staff, and fellow medical staff, and includes an unparalleled reputation throughout the local and regional community. Dr. Austin has patients from all over the Northwest area, including Washington, Idaho, California and more.
In addition to his private practice duties, Dr. Austin also holds clinical appointments at Salem Hospital and Northbank Surgical Center. As an active member of the medical community, Dr. Austin is involved with many professional societies, including:

He served on the Board of Directors for the Marion-Polk County Medical Society, and was a member of the Continuing Medical Education Committee for over 10 years during which time he served terms as Chairman and Grand Rounds Chairman. Currently he is a member of the Salem Hospital Multidisciplinary Peer Review Committee for patient safety.
