Acetaminophen is an over-the-counter medicine used to reduce fevers and relieve pain. It is sold under many brand names, including Tylenol.

Decades of research have found that acetaminophen is safe for children when administered as recommended. Misleading claims link the medicine to autism. The Lurie Center for Autism invites you to join Susanna Mierau, MD, DPhil, for a presentation and discussion on meeting the needs of adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) as they age. The presentation will focus on the preparation necessary to transition from adult to geriatric care. Geriatrics provides an important framework for identifying and managing the complex needs of older individuals, known as the “5 M’s of Geriatrics.” We will discuss the needs of older adults with ASD using this framework as well as the current gaps in care in our communities.

When the sun is shining, surfaces like pavement, sand, and wooden decks absorb and retain heat. These surfaces can quickly become dangerously hot, often much hotter than the air temperature. Bare feet (especially children’s), pet paws, and even certain materials (like rubber soles or stroller wheels) are at risk of burns, blisters, and discomfort.

Quick Safety Tips:
🔥Walk dogs early morning or after sundown.
🔥Use paw wax, booties, or carry them across hot surfaces.
🔥Have kids wear sandals or water shoes even at the beach.
🔥Check playground equipment before use—slides and rubber turf can burn.
