Trauma doesn’t require an event, it can occur as a result of not getting our basic needs met—our needs for connection, to be picked up, to be heard, to be seen, nurtured, and protected.
All mental health symptoms are not diseases, they are processes that arise in response to our circumstances.
The importance of expressing our feelings.
Suppressed feelings impacts our physical health.
A core conflict we experience as humans is our need for connection and our need for authenticity.
In truth, all emotions are important. Joy, sadness, hurts, anger…
And about anger, it too is important, it is a boundary defense. But like all emotions, once they are felt, we can learn to let them go.
And healing doesn’t come from suppression. It comes from expression.
Suppression leads to depression, chronic illness, anxiety and more.
Repression of emotion is a cultural phenomenon.
There are many modalities of healing…but are their roots, they all need to offer compassion.
