【Spring Equinox: Your Guide to Seasonal Balance】
Today is the Spring Equinox, the precise day of equilibrium when day and night are of equal length. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), this is a critical time to harmonize our internal energy (Qi) with the shifting world around us.
As the "Wood" energy of Spring rises, your Liver Qi naturally wants to expand. Because Spring is the season associated with the Liver, it is a particularly potent time to focus on emotional health and mood regulation. When Liver Qi flows smoothly, we feel emotionally balanced and calm; when it becomes blocked, we may experience tension, irritability, or seasonal allergies.
🌿 TCM Tips for Spring Balance from Salem Acupuncture:
• Eat Your Greens & Sprouts: Spring is the season of the color Green! We recommend incorporating more green leafy vegetables and sprouted foods like mung bean sprouts or fresh bamboo shoots. These "rising" foods mirror the energy of the season and help gently awaken your body’s Qi.
• Move Like Bamboo: Support your Liver Qi with gentle movement, stretching, or brisk walks outdoors. Flexibility is key!
• Guard Against "Wind": Even as it warms up, the "Reverse Cold" can surprise us. Wear a light layer or scarf to protect your neck and "Wind Gate" points.
