Our Story

About Us A team approach to meeting your every need. While we provide the highest degree of technical capability, we also believe that providing the highest standard of care requires an integrated approach. Our orthopaedic surgeons, with diverse experience and subspecialized skills, work together to ensure your best outcome. The compassion, commitment & personalized care you deserve. At Essex Orthopaedics & Optima Sports Medicine, we’re down-to-earth and friendly. Patients love our personal care. We respect your time, but you’ll never feel rushed. You’ll get our undivided attention, because we appreciate the importance of understanding you and your concerns. You’ll get our knowledge, skill and total commitment to doing what is best for you and most effective at helping you get better. Because we live in and support this community, we genuinely care, and you’ll always know it. Why Essex Orthopaedics? Orthopaedic surgery is a specialized field that deals with cutting-edge technological advances in the surgical care of a wide variety of problems, from fractures to sports medicine to joint replacement. However, the art of medicine is just as important as the science. While many physicians may be able to diagnose your condition and many surgeons have the technical skills to perform your surgery, this does not always translate to an exceptional experience and a full recovery. At Essex Orthopaedics, we understand that the road to recovery doesn’t end after your initial clinic visit or when you leave the operating suite. The path to success includes postoperative care in and out of the hospital as well as postoperative rehabilitation to build back strength and stability. We frequently see patients who have previously been treated at major metropolitan medical centers in the area. While they may have found their surgeon to be competent, their care lacks the personal attention that makes the overall experience a success. At Essex Orthopaedics, we believe you may be able to find adequate treatment at a number of places, but you will not be able to find a team of physicians, nurses, therapists and physicians assistants who will provide better care for you than right here. At Essex Orthopaedics, you will receive the highest-level care in an integrated system. Our physicians, nurses, physical therapists and occupational therapists all know each other, and we are able to communicate with each other on a regular basis about your progress so that you don’t miss a step on the path to a full recovery. Getting You Back to Sports: When your team needs you... You need our team The physicians at Essex Orthopaedics understand how important it is for athletes to get back to training and competition. We have participated in a variety of sports at the NCAA intercollegiate level and beyond including football, baseball, ice hockey, track and field, cross-country, crew and dance. Our goal is to have athletes at all levels, both competitive and recreational, return to the field safely but without unnecessary delay. Based on physical exam and radiographic evaluation, we will work with you to determine whether a surgical or nonsurgical approach is the best treatment for you. Physical therapy can be performed at our office or at a number of locations in the region. If surgery is required, our surgeons are skilled at both open and arthroscopic techniques so that any problem can be addressed with the best techniques available. To schedule an appointment with one of our doctors, please call our office at (603) 898-2244
