We are 1 week away from our "FREE" First Responders Breakfast

OPEN to ALL Firefighters, EMTs, Police Officers, Dispatchers, and Emergency personnel.

This event is not only about providing you a warm meal, but also about letting our community heroes know how much they are seen, valued, and loved.

Let's talk about wounds!

Wound care is a specialized field of nursing that not every facility has.

Chronic wounds affect over 10 million medicare patients a year, but when they come to long term care centers like Salem Center, we see them start to improve. I also give residents the tools and education they need to manage their skin and wounds at home.

Skin and wound care is collaborative. Everybody helps with wound care, from the CNAs repositioning residents, to dietary increasing protein; skin health is everyone's responsibility. I'm very thankful for my team at Salem Center.

My favorite thing about wound care is how its always changing. Not every wound can be treated the same, and they don't always respond the way you think they will. It keeps you on your toes. Nothing makes me happier than resolving a wound and giving someone their confidence back.

September is Sepsis Awareness Month — a time to learn how early recognition can save lives. Sepsis is a medical emergency that requires quick action.
Know the signs. Act fast. Save a life.

� Shivering
� Extreme pain or discomfort
� Feeling like you might die
� Sleepiness or difficulty waking
� Shortness of breath
� Pale or discolored skin

Stay alert. Trust your instincts. If you or a loved one shows signs,
seek medical help immediately.

Wrapping up another meaningful week here at Salem Center

From celebrating our 2025 CNA gradautes stepping into new beginnings, to sharing simple joys of movie time with our residents, to families spending quality time in our solarium, to watching hearts connect and our Salem family grow stronger through therapy sessions - this week has been a beautiful reminder of community feels like.

Fall is in the air, and so is the sweet smell of apple pies! ��

At Genesis Salem Center, therapy doesn't always look like exercise bands and weights - sometimes it's flour on our hands and cinnamon in the air. Resident Velena Hudkins is showing us how baking apple pies can bring back cherished memories, strengthen hands, and warm hearts all at once.

Occupational therapy at it's sweetest as we welcome the cooler days of Fall ahead!�

Today we want to take a minute to congratulate Mr. Burnside on his return home!

Even though his stay presented many challenges, he met each day with a smile and a willingness to put in the work. Salem Center was honored to have been a part of his healing journey and wish him joy and continued strength.

Moving Forward - no looking back!

Meet Mr. Shipplett

Once limited to lying in bed due to constant pain and weakness, Mr. Shipplett is now up on his feet and walking 40+ feet each day.

Mr. Shipplett came to us at Salem Center in lots of pain and has had a difficult time getting back to wellness. Our team never gave up and neither did he! Now with a new podiatry boot in place and a smile on his face we are seeing great possibilities of a return to his home!

When we asked Mr. Shipplett if there was something he wanted to say about this care here at Salem Center he said

"I wouldn't be where I am without the care of this team here. I'm on my way home because of them!"
