Today we want to feature and say thank you to Nicholas Ertsgaard M.S. CF-SLP for being one of our amazing therapists at NWRA, Salem, OR! We appreciate you and everything you do each day! ⁠

Nicholas is an Oregon native who graduated from South Salem High School in 2006. He has over 10 years of experience working with adults as a private voice/piano teacher and music director in Oregon. Nicholas completed his bachelor's degree (B.M. Vocal Performance) from Millikin University in 2011 and his post-baccalaureate from Utah
State in 2018. He completed his Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from NOVA Southeastern University in December 2021.

He offers swallowing therapy which includes an evaluation,
targeted functional exercises, and safe swallow strategies. Voice therapy for a variety of neurological conditions including Parkinsons and to keep the aging voice healthy and strong. Nicholas is currently certified in SPEAK OUT!® and is working towards LSVT LOUD certification. He also offers cognition and memory therapy which can improve enjoyment and function for daily activities and routines.
Nicholas helps NWRA by providing speech and language therapy for a variety of conditions that can improve communication between friends and loved ones.

Nicholas lives in Salem, OR with his wife and three young boys. In his free time, he enjoys staying active and taking long walks at Minto-Brown Park with his dog. He also loves to cook and continues to enjoy a professional side hustle in singing, directing, teaching and composing music.

Both Breast Cancer Awareness Month and National Physical Therapy Month happen to fall in October. Did you know that physical therapy is a vital part in recovery for breast cancer patients? So even though both of these important subjects fall in the same month, they do really relate to each other. Physical therapy is a critical component for patients who have undergone breast surgery, including surgery to treat breast cancer and or radiation to the breast. It can help patients rebuild strength, lessen fatigue and manage pain. There are so many ways that PT can benefit a patient who is going through breast cancer.
