Capital Manor Residential Care and Memory Care received a Deficiency-Free State Survey. This week 4 surveyors from the state were here inspecting everything. No citations were given. A rarity for sure.

Executive Director (and noted Duck fan) David Lewis eats some crow and enjoys a side of humble pie during the Board of Directors breakfast meeting. Ryan Exline, from Life Care Services, is a lifelong Hoosier fan while David adopted the Ducks since moving to Oregon 14 years ago. Whoever won the October 11, 2025, football game, got to see the other person wear their team’s colors. David thought it was a sure bet for the Ducks, but the upset proved him wrong. Ryan brought a Hoosier hat which David gamely wore the entire day. Pouring salt on his wound, they even played the Hoosier Fight Song during the Board Meeting.

The Oregon Symphony Musicians came back to Capital Manor for their 10th program in our community. This performance featured Dr. Emily Stanek playing the flute with collaborative pianist Dr. Crystal Zimmerman. This perfect duo masterly gave us beautiful flourishes of notes that captivated our audience. Their entrancing and upbeat arrangement included music from classical music legends like Mozart. Additionally, Oregon Symphony staff members gave a wonderfully presented overview of their upcoming 2025-26 season. We cannot wait to have more musicians from the symphony come to grace our stage!

Seven harpists graced our stage last night at Capital Manor. They formed a harp circle and masterly preformed a beautiful arrangement of music for the audience, which involved renditions of classic songs like “Danny Boy” and “Over the Rainbow.” The performance included both group ensemble pieces and four enchanting soloists. We could not have asked for a better group of harpists to invoke playful imagination and captivate our audience. Capital Manor cannot wait to have the Willamette Valley Chapter Harp Circle back again!

Embracing a better life. Embracing life better.

Since 1963, Capital Manor has been getting better and better! We are currently undergoing a five-phase expansion plan so we can meet the growing needs of the Salem community. After this plan is complete our 37 acre campus will expand to 49 acres. The 5 Phases include: 1. Expand and improve parking, 2. Build a 34 private suite state of the art Memory Care, 3. Build 34 new spacious Westside Villas for Independent Living, 4. Renovate and update our amenities and dining venues, 5. Remodel and renovate the exteriors of our existing villas.

Capital Manor offers a vibrant, active retirement lifestyle where our residents can thrive. With our focus on wellness there is always something to do to embrace a better life: take a fitness class in the pool, learn ceramics, volunteer at the library, meet friends for a glass of wine or walk your dog by the creek in the forested glen. With housekeeping, landscaping, maintenance, and a flexible dining plan, our staff take care of much of your “have-to-do” list so you can spend time on your “want-to-do” list.

Capital Manor is the only not-for-profit Life Plan (CCRC) Community within 30 miles of Salem. We are proud of our reputation in the Salem area as the community that offers the highest quality of care. Our residents have exclusive access to Capital Manor Care. As needs change over time, having access to our care, provides peace of mind for our residents and also for their family and loved ones.

We hope you will come see how we are embracing life better every day! Call to make an appointment , 503-589-3734 or visit https://www.capitalmanor.com to learn more.
