I am Yvette Tripp, a single mom for 11 years, of four great kids. I've lived in the Salem area for almost 2 years now. I absolutely love it here. After moving to Salem, I had two concerns. Firstly, I found that finding family related information was difficult and time consuming. It wasn’t that NOTHING was happening in Salem, it was just that there were no streamlined avenues to get the word out about the many AMAZING things that our community does for each other. Secondly- as a small business owner, I wondered how the many small businesses were able to inform the public of their goods and services. I lived just a few blocks away from a kids resale shop for a year and never knew! So, in July 2015 I set out to solve both problems. That’s how OK&F was born. I have always felt that giving back to the community is a requirement for the wonderful life that I have been blessed with. Sort of like paying rent for living on this planet. By putting good out- you get good in return. I teach my children the same- and model by example. There is so much to appreciate. So, together, we built this magazine. I write, design, edit, promote and market the magazine, and manage the website and social media, while my kids help me bundle everything up, and deliver all 7500 of them throughout Salem and Keizer. It’s a family affair! The reception has been nothing but positive. We are so thankful. Since it is a free magazine- it is funded by my advertisers. And let me tell you, I spoil them, every chance I get! By implementing social media, and an attractive, purse sized, colorful magazine- I get the word out! I deliver to area schools, pediatric offices, dental offices, grocery store distribution racks, daycares and preschools, the YMCA, local library and more. I am proud to say that my pick up rate is currently about 90%, with very little waste. I have researched my competitors advertising rates, and priced myself below them- keeping in mind that small business can really feel the pinch when it comes to marketing their business. If you know of a business that would benefit from OK&F please tell them- or me! I have big plans for the future. I can’t wait to grow to a point where I can really give back to the Salem Keizer community through drives, donations and more. For readers- chime in and let me know what you would like to see. For small businesses- I know we are all busy- and time is valuable. I would love to visit you and show you what I am up to. No hard sales, I promise. My goal is to inform and help you accomplish the goals you have as well. Please feel free to call me at your convenience- I’m here to help! Yvette Tripp
