Jeff McCowan, RN-BC, clinical leader, Davenport 8, shares what makes him proud to be a nurse: “What makes me proud to be a nurse at [Mass General Brigham] is knowing that I’m part of a healthcare system that values meaningful, patient-centered care—something I deeply connect with after making a major career shift into nursing."

From the prompt response of the EMTs, to the person who wheeled me to the lobby on the date of my release, everyone was exceptional... There is no doubt that the response team saved my life... Each and every doctor, nurse and attendant that I met was competent, helpful and friendly. I could not ask for more. Thank you all.”

After four decades of dedication to Salem Hospital, Janet Talbot, manager of Volunteer Services and the Salem Hospital Gift Shop, has officially retired.

Throughout her time with us, Janet created impactful programs that touched the lives of countless patients, staff and volunteers. From launching the Pet Therapy Dog Program to the Baby Cuddler Program, her contributions have left a lasting legacy.

Most recently, in July 2023, Janet led the successful opening of the new Salem Gift Shop, transforming it into a thriving space that exceeded revenue projections.
