Our office will have adjusted hours for the Labor Day Holiday on Monday. We will be open from 8:00am - 12:00pm. We will resume normal business hours on Tuesday, September 2nd. We hope everyone has a wonderful holiday weekend.

If you can think it, we can usually create it. This customer came to us with a sketch and a budget they had in mind for a memorial they had envisioned. Using their input, we then worked through two rough sketches to see if we’re heading in the right direction. Once we were on the right track, the sketch was then transferred to a scaled CAD style drawing. The customer then ensured everything was exactly how they wanted it and once approved it was transformed into the final product.

Our office is closed today in observance of Independence Day. May everyone have a safe and enjoyable celebration. If you’re looking for an event to attend, we’re sponsoring the 4th of July Concert tonight at 6:00pm in Shawsville, VA. Come out to Old Town Fields, LLC and enjoy music, food and fireworks afterwards.

Come on out Friday as we celebrate the 4th of July together. Enjoy great music from Miller Holler along with food, beverages, fun and of course fireworks. We’ll be handing out light up wands and coozies until we run out. We look forward to seeing everyone!

Snapshot of a few memorials we installed this week. This week was extra special as one of the memorials were for a family we personally knew and another for a firefighter hero gone too soon. It’s such an honor to be entrusted with these memorials.

Cremation is on the rise throughout the country. Above ground cremation memorials have evolved as a result. These memorials are often able to fit on one grave space and allow for easy insertion of cremains when the time is needed. Today’s friendly visitor in the cemetery was “Patrick”. He decided to hang out and entertain us while we installed a flat marker and engrave on an existing memorial.

It seems this kitty heard about our “cemetery dogs” album and was jealous. This cool cat hung out with us throughout the whole install and double checked the work as we went along.

Happy Friday! Today’s featured granite colors are Jet Black and Flash Black granite. Black granite has become a very popular granite in the last 20 years as etching has become more popular.

An etching on granite allows for intricate details to be shown on the granite, particularly when it comes to images and art. Jet / Absolute Black has the tightest grain of the black granites which results in the darkest of these black granites. It Is because of their darkness that Jet Black / Absolute granite is the best choice for etchings.

Flash Black granite is slightly lighter shade of black but a slightly larger grain. Etchings are common on Flash Black granite as well, but it’s not quite as pronounced. A really neat variety of Flash Black is known as Eagle Blue Flash. It’s Black granite with little specs of blue abalone effect throughout when the sun shines on it. Flash granite is a very nice and unique choice when sandblasting art on a memorial.

Unfortunately all of these Jet / Absolute and flash black granites are imported. Our favorite Jet and Flash granite comes from Uruguay but India and China are also source countries of black granite.

As the theme has been with many colors, the price of Black Granite is significantly higher than Georgia Grey.
