Dear Acupuncture Community,
I lost touch with many of you already, so I like to take the opportunity to reach out and tell you what is going on in my clinic.
Although most of my colleagues have closed their clinics, for now, I decided to keep Life Balance Acupuncture Clinic open and running since healthcare services and necessary medical visits are exempt from the new executive order by the Governor. But of course, many procedures have changed around here as I am taking every precaution possible to keep everybody healthy. This includes pre-screening patients on the phone before their appointments, implementing enough time in between patients to be able to disinfect all areas of traffic, changing linens including my attire after every visit, asking patients not to touch anything as much as it is possible, storing personal effects in a bin which will be disinfected after every patient visit so that there is no cross-contamination. I also don’t use the waiting area anymore; patients are asked to stay in their car until I get them into the building via the back door.
Many of you who usually come regularly for wellness or maintenance treatments have already ceased to schedule, which is the right attitude now. This clinic is open for patients who suffer from not getting treatments. Here are a few examples of scenarios:
You are usually getting treatments for back pain. You can hold off a couple of weeks or even a month, but now you are experiencing a high degree of pain.
A patient gets regular treatment for his ALS, which is the only medical intervention that has ever helped him. Without treatments, he regresses quickly.
You are worried sick. You don’t get sleep. You fly off the handle quickly and make your family miserable.
Life Balance Acupuncture also offers now telehealth sessions via Zoom or simply Apple Face Time; communicating on the phone might just suffice in most cases. This is an opportunity to evaluate your situation and symptoms and assess if you need treatment or if you would do well with herbs. After the intake and diagnosis, I prescribe an herbal formula, which I can either send to you or you can pick it up at the clinic. buy an herbal tincture from I would ask you to write a check, put it in an envelope with my name on it and throw it into our mailbox, which is located at the backdoor. Call me if you are interested, or have questions about it.
In these times of “no-touch and stay away,” Chinese herbal medicine really shines and wins momentum. We can treat many many conditions with herbal formulas.
Last but not least, I like to emphasize that if you have any beginning flu-like symptoms, contact me. It does not mean you shouldn’t call your primary care provider because you should! But when you supplement with Chinese herbs early on, you will fare much better. Often, people think that when there is such a severe disease herbs couldn’t possibly do anything to remedy it. Nothing is further from the truth. Chinese herbs are powerful. Most of you will have light symptoms anyways, which can be treated easily.
I was able to order the herbal formulas they used in China, and I have a good amount available. The supply chain is now quite impacted, as you can imagine.
What can you do to stay healthy and boost your immune system?
Take Vitamin C and D, I also highly recommend a tincture that combines Western and Chinese herbs. It is called “Wellness Formula,” and you can get it at Life Source although they are often out, at Natural Grocers, and maybe Fred Myers has it. I have it here but, of course, here it is a bit more expensive. I also have a Chinese herbal tincture that is boosting the immune system. My family and I take both tinctures now to stay healthy.
With much care, Dr. Manuela Terlinden L.Ac.
