September is Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) Awareness Month, a time to educate each other about this serious vascular condition. PAD occurs when arteries, especially those in the legs, become narrowed, primarily due to plaque buildup. This narrowing then restricts blood flow to the limbs, leading to leg pain, and increased risk of a heart attack, stroke, or even amputation.

Dr. Devin Watson, Dr. Andrew Hodge, and Dr. Lynnellen Gregory, vascular surgeons with LewisGale Physicians, help treat patients for this condition utilizing the advanced Cath Lab at LewisGale Medical Center in Salem.
