Residents, families, and guests turned up the heat at our annual Chili Cook-Off here at Salem Woods! Four flavorful recipes were crafted by our talented chefs and Culinary Creations Club – and the competition was fierce! Live music by Mark Stanzler kept everyone singing and dancing as they tasted and scored each chili. Congratulations to Chef Ashley, our reigning Chili Champion! Second place went to our resident Ann and engagement associates Crystal and MJ who represented our Open Campus Culinary Creations Club, and third place to Chef Chris. A delicious time enjoyed by all!

Our annual Community Trick-or-Treat filled our halls with spooky fun and sweet smiles as families, friends, and residents celebrated Halloween together! From superheroes and pirates to mummies and fairies, our young trick-or-treaters brought so much joy as they made their way through the community collecting candy from residents. Our guests enjoyed festive photo backdrops, a “Build Your Own” Candy Apple Bar, and a variety of Halloween goodies. This cherished tradition continues to be one of our favorite ways to celebrate the season – bringing generations together for fun, friendship, and plenty of Halloween spirit!

We recently attended an art show honoring the incredible work of one of our long-time resident’s late sons. His art, rich with color, texture, and heart, beautifully captured his creative spirit and vision. It was a meaningful evening of remembrance and reflection as residents came together to celebrate his legacy and support a dear friend within our community. Moments like these remind us of the power of art and the bonds of friendship that make our community so special!

Prost! Our residents and associates came together for a lively Oktoberfest celebration filled with laughter, music, and Bavarian cheer. Al and Tom’s Hit Parade brought the room to life with festive tunes, dancing, and an impromptu conga line that brought plenty of smiles. Our talented Culinary Team prepared soft pretzels filled with a delicious spread of Bavarian fare – including bratwurst, sausages, gherkins, German potatoes, and warm beer cheese perfectly paired with an assortment of Samuel Adams fall brews, apple strudel, and Black Forest cake tarts! It was an afternoon that truly captured the spirit of Gemütlichkeit – good food, good friends, and good times shared!

To know Tae is to love him. Tae has touched the hearts of everyone he’s met and holds a truly special place in all of ours. After some time away, he surprised us with a visit back home – and the smiles, hugs, and joyful tears that filled the room said it all. For the past 6 years, Tae has been a bright light in our Salem Woods family – always dancing, always smiling, and always spreading joy wherever he goes. Today was a beautiful reminder that what we share here goes far beyond community – it’s love, friendship, and family!
