The person giving you a massage might NOT be a MASSAGE THERAPIST. This is why I care 👇🏻
1. I care when clients get injured. 🦵🏼
-leaving with a worsening condition and lots of bruises is NOT normal.
2. I care when people have to budget their hard earn 💵 for their appointment.
-I’m still paying my tuition meanwhile some people are charging big $$$ and cannot name a single muscle in your body.
3. I care when clients are uncomfortable and boundaries are crossed. 😣
-Draping with unnecessary exposure, unwanted touch, and offloading all your personal problems to someone who wanted an hour of relaxation to name a few.
4. I care when “professionals” don’t know when to say NO. 🚫
-There are medical conditions that contraindicate massage. They could compromise your health, their health, and the next client for a paycheck. If I don’t have the answer, I will tell you. If I think you need to see a different professional, I will refer out!
5. I care about the repuations of all certified massage therapists and my career VERY MUCH. 👩🏼🎓
-I have clients who confide in me about their unwanted experiences and it’s simply because they DID NOT KNOW. Some of them get a good laugh but now their money is already spent and time already wasted.
💡Here are the facts!
➡️KS is 1 in 3 states that does not regulate massage. Guess what? I didn’t know that until I enrolled at Wichita Wellspring School of Allied Health. Anyone can massage a body where the employer allows.
➡️My tuition covered the cost of education that prepared you take a National liscensing exam that is required in 46 other states and a minimum of 800-1200 hours of hands on training to graduate. My first time giving a professional massage was not the day I was employed! We have mandated clinical hours where clients have INFORMED CONSENT they are seeing students.
➡️No one is enforcing safe/sanitary business practices and continuing education in Salina for massage practices.
This is my livelihood. I am NOT the massage therapist for everyone. But I do work very hard to ensure I can be trusted, my mistakes are corrected, and my clients are being respected in all aspects. I cook every day and don’t call myself a chef. I do hair but don’t call myself a cosmetologist. Iv popped a back before and do not call myself a chiropractor. Please ask questions and don’t be afraid to say if something is uncomfortable!
