Hearing Thru the Holidays 👂

Hearing isn’t just about detecting sound—it’s about understanding and participating in conversations! While hearing aids are a great start, they’re an aid, not a fix. Talking with someone who has hearing loss can be challenging and tiring, especially in busy, noisy environments.

Here are some tips to make holiday conversations easier:
• Face-to-face chats: Don’t walk away or around while talking.
• Minimize background noise: Turn off the TV or move away from other conversations.
• Take turns speaking: Especially in multi-person conversations.
• Pick the right time & place: Hold gatherings in public spaces before or after peak hours.

About 830 million people worldwide have diabetes, with most living in low- and middle-income countries, according to the World Health Organization. More than half of those individuals are not receiving treatment. Both the number of people diagnosed with diabetes and the number going untreated have continued to rise over the past several decades.

To help raise awareness during National Diabetes Month this November, Kaleigh Knox, Nurse Practitioner at Salina Regional Endocrinology, discusses the differences between Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes and shares ways to lower your risk of developing diabetes in this episode of The PULSE.

The PULSE is presented by Salina Regional Health Center and airs every Monday from 11 a.m. to noon on KSN as part of Good Day Kansas.
