𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐋𝐨𝐬𝐬: Myths vs. Reality
𝐌𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐬:
1.All deaf and hard of hearing people use ASL
2. Hearing aids fully restore typical hearing.
3. Lip reading (speechreading) means full understanding

𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲:
1. Most people who are hard of hearing do not use ASL (American Sign Language).
2. Hearing aids and cochlear implants boost volume, but do not fully restore typical clarity or reduce background noise.
3. Lipreading shows only about 30 percent of spoken English and is even less effective in noisy or fast speech environments.

If you are experiencing hearing loss, schedule an appointment with Salina Regional ENT & Audiology by calling (785) 823-7225.

Welcoming a new baby is one of life’s most meaningful moments - and having the right support in place matters. 🩷💙

An $18,000 grant from the Foundation is helping Women and Infants Services enhance care for moms and babies through the addition of Novii+ wireless fetal monitors, along with new teaching kits and updated training equipment.

These wireless monitors allow care teams to continuously monitor baby’s well-being while giving moms greater comfort and freedom to move during labor.

In addition, updated teaching tools help ensure care teams are equipped with the latest knowledge and training—supporting safe, high-quality care for every family.

Because of support like this, families can feel confident knowing they are receiving exceptional care during some of life’s most important moments.
