The Power of the Pause

Today is World Semicolon Day, and at Resilience Clubhouse, we are reflecting on The Power of the Pause. ;

In grammar, a semicolon represents a connection. It links two ideas that could stand alone but are stronger together. We see resilience the same way. Sometimes, life forces a pause—a moment of struggle, a period of rest, or a time to seek help. That pause isn't a sign of weakness; it’s a vital part of your narrative.

How the Pause fits with Resilience:

Reflection: It allows us to look back at how far we’ve come.

Community: It’s the moment we reach out to others at the Clubhouse to share the load.

Redefinition: It gives us the space to decide that our past does not define our future.

The Clubhouse is built on the idea that our stories are better when they are shared. If you’re in a season where you feel like you’ve hit a "period," come find us. Let’s turn that period into a semicolon together.

Why the Semicolon?

The semicolon is a symbol of hope. In grammar, it connects two independent thoughts that could stand alone but belong together. In life, it represents the decision to stay, to heal, and to find wellness despite the periods of darkness.

Wellness Reminders for Today:

Rest is productive. You don't have to earn the right to breathe.

Your struggle is real, but so is your strength.

Connection is medicine. Reach out to a friend, a professional, or your Resilience Clubhouse Community.

Wellness is more than exercise or eating well — it is the practice of caring for the whole person. At Resilience Clubhouse, we understand that recovery is not just about managing symptoms, but about building a life filled with purpose, connection, and dignity.

For adults living with mental health challenges, wellness is a foundation for recovery. It helps reduce stress, strengthen resilience, and create growth opportunities. When members engage in wellness activities, they are not only supporting their physical health, but also their emotional, social, and spiritual well-being.

In the Clubhouse model, wellness is woven into the work‑ordered day. Just as members contribute to clerical tasks, cooking, outreach, or employment support, they also participate in activities that nurture balance and self‑care. This integration makes wellness practical, accessible, and part of everyday life — not something separate or optional.

THRIVE THURSDAY WITH RESILIENCE CLUBHOUSE!

Recovery isn't just a mental game—it's a physical one, too. 🏗️✨

In the context of healing, nourishment isn’t about a restrictive diet. It’s about adding exactly what your brain needs to repair itself. 🧠🥗

Think of it this way:
✅ Therapy processes the past.

✅ Education builds the future.

✅ Nutrition provides the physical strength to do the hard work of both.

When we fuel our bodies properly, we give our minds the capacity for growth. Stop shrinking and start rebuilding. 🌿💪

IT'S MEMBER MONDAY!!!

Today, we’re taking a moment to honor the incredible people who make our Clubhouse what it is. Our members bring determination, humor, compassion, and a willingness to grow — even on the hard days.

Every goal set, every shared story, every act of encouragement strengthens the community we’re building together.

Thank you for showing up for yourselves and for one another. You are the heartbeat of this space, and we’re grateful for the light you bring into the Clubhouse each day.

💚It’s WISDOM WEDNESDAY WITH RCH!

💡 Did you know that the Clubhouse model is built on the belief that "community is therapy"?

Unlike traditional clinical settings, REsilience Clubhouse is a place where we aren’t "patients"—we are members. We work side-by-side with staff to run our daily operations, from the culinary unit to community outreach.

💚THE WISDOM:
Connection isn't just a nice-to-have; it’s life-changing. Research shows that Clubhouse members are twice as likely to be employed and experience significantly fewer hospitalizations than those in traditional care.

True resilience isn't something you have to build alone. It’s something we build together. 🤝✨💚

🌼 Thankful Tuesday at Resilience Clubhouse 🌼

Today our hearts are full. We are SO THANKFUL for the incredible teamwork we witnessed as 18 colleagues worked side‑by‑side to keep every part of the Clubhouse running smoothly.

We also had the joy of welcoming 4 new members to orientation and 14 returning members into the space — and watching everyone support one another was truly beautiful. This is what community looks like in action.

If you’ve been curious about Resilience Clubhouse — whether you’re a potential member, a local agency interested in partnering, or a community supporter who wants to see your impact firsthand — we’d love to welcome you.

Send us a message or give us a call, and we’ll get you scheduled for a tour and lunch. There’s always a place for you here.

Starting off another great week with Member Monday! Today, we celebrate Stephy H.

Stephy drives in almost every day from Abilene. She keeps all of us organized and is the person most likely to greet you at the front desk. Since joining Resilience, Stephy has completed the KDADS Peer Support I training and Level I Microsoft Excel Certification. She attended the New Staff Clubhouse Virtual Training through Genesis Club House, Inc., as our member counterpart to Member Advancement Unit Lead, Shelly Stevens. She also accompanied seven of her fellow members and three staff at Advocacy Day at the State Capitol last Monday.

Stephy loves all things Sunflower, which helped her to create a special bond with our advisory board member, Rayshell Humphrey-Zambrano, and it describes her perfectly.

If someone identifies as a "sunflower person," it usually points to a specific personality archetype. In modern slang and psychology, a sunflower lover is often described as:

A "Radiant" Personality: Someone who lights up a room or acts as the "emotional anchor" for their friends.

An Optimist: They tend to seek out the light in dark situations. They don't just ignore problems; they choose to focus on the growth that comes after.

Warm and Approachable: Much like the flower itself, these individuals are perceived as open, friendly, and non-threatening.

Naturally Resilient: They have a "stand tall" mentality. They aren't easily bowed by social pressure or minor setbacks.

Please join us in congratulating Stephy on her many accomplishments. We are blessed and honored to have her as our Resilience Clubhouse Colleague.

IT'S MEMBER MONDAY!

We want to celebrate and congratulate our colleague, George S., today. George moved into his new place today with help from our Home-ARP Housing Program. Shelly S., our Housing Advocate, has been working with George to secure a better and more stable living situation, and today, all their hard work paid off.

George isn't big on pictures, but he said I could take a quick one while he was vacuuming as long as I didn't get his face. 😆

George, your colleagues at Resilience Clubhouse are so happy and excited for you...CONGRATULATIONS!!!

We hope you can join us and help us celebrate our 1st Anniversary!
