Full of energy, full of heart, and always on the go, this is Sarah! Sarah has been a part of Salina Ortho for 16½ years, working alongside Dr. Grauerholz, Dr. Horinek, Dr. Daily, and Dr. Johnson, and the incredible teams that support them. She’s quick, knowledgeable, and full of energy, juggling patient care, doctor schedules, and a bit of detective work every day, all with her signature bubbly personality.

She loves seeing patients improve, getting to know them, and helping them return to the activities they enjoy. Her energy and enthusiasm make the office a brighter, livelier place, she keeps everyone on their toes and always brings a little extra spark to the day.

When she’s not at work, Sarah is probably running, soaking up the outdoors, or spending time with her family. Fun fact: she has a knack for remembering birthdays, so don’t be surprised if she’s got yours memorized!

Her dedication, positivity, and heart make a real difference here. Sarah, we’re so grateful for the care, laughter, and energy you bring to every day, you make this place better just by being you.

🎳 Employee Appreciation Night at The Alley of Salina was exactly what it needed to be: loud, a little competitive, and a lot of fun.

There were some impressive bowling strikes… and some that will never be spoken of again. Laser tag got intense (we learned a few coworkers cannot be trusted in the arena), the arcade games brought out everyone’s competitive side, and the food didn’t last long.

It was a great evening to hang out, laugh, and appreciate the team that makes Salina Ortho such a great place every day. Grateful for our wonderful crew!

We want to take a moment to give a big shoutout to the amazing team at the Beloit Medical Center, P.A.

Each month, two of our providers, Dr. Horinek and Dr. Herrenbruck, travel to serve patients at this satellite location, and we simply couldn’t do it without the outstanding support of the Beloit team.

From the clinic staff to the Radiology Department, there are so many moving parts behind the scenes that make exceptional patient care possible. The coordination, teamwork, and dedication it takes does not go unnoticed. You truly go above and beyond for patients every single day.

As a small token of our appreciation, we were thrilled to have Sweet Mama Lea’s deliver some delicious treats to the Beloit Medical team.

We want to give a warm welcome to Adam Horinek, PA-C, who will be working alongside Salina Ortho’s visiting specialists providing both clinical and surgical orthopedic care to support patients through every step of their treatment journey.

An Atwood, Kansas native, Adam is part of a care team built on collaboration, compassion, and a shared commitment to serving the communities of Western Kansas. We’re so excited to introduce Heather, one of the incredible team members helping keep everything moving behind the scenes at Salina Ortho!

Heather is no stranger to the medical world. With previous experience as a scrub tech and surgery scheduler, she’s now on the other side of things, using her firsthand knowledge of the OR and surgical process to help guide and support our patients every step of the way. As part of both our surgical coordinator team and clinical team, she plays a vital role in making sure everything runs smoothly from clinic visits to surgery day.

Her experience, attention to detail, and team-first attitude make her an invaluable part of Salina Ortho, and through it all, you’ll always find her with a smile!

Fun fact: Heather runs on coffee, kindness, and a “ready for anything” attitude.

Exceptional outcomes are never the result of just one person, they’re made possible by an entire team working together and cheering patients on every step of the way. From our front desk coordinating appointments, our billing team handling eligibility and claims, our nursing staff answering questions and supporting patients throughout the day, our physical therapy team guiding recovery and rehab, to our physicians and physician assistants providing expert care, every role matters, and every team member is invested in our patients’ success.

"I recently had a total knee replacement at Salina Surgical Hospital under Levi Kindel, MD from Salina Ortho in Salina, KS.

From start to finish I can't say enough good things about my experience. I'm happy I chose to have robotic assisted surgery. While this was no walk in the park, the end result was worth it. The hospital stay was amazing for the amount of care and never having to wait for long if you needed assistance.

The success of the knee replacement lies with the physical therapy afterwards. My physical therapist for the 6 weeks following was Steve Sjogren. Each week things would improve and I would gain more range of motion and balance. Steve's encouragement and ability to fit what was needed for that day. He has the ability to make you laugh and try harder. In my case it was to slack off at times and Steve saw through it. I watched Steve in the physical therapy room and saw how caring he was with each of his other patients and never pushed them past what they could handle.

I would also acknowledge Amber Sawyers, PA-C for Dr. Kindel. She gave guidance on what to expect before and after surgery. Later any questions put in the portal were answered timely. I would also like to thank Jody, the nurse who would call back when Amber was not available.

When I get ready to have my second knee done, it will definitely be back here with the same team. I have had orthopedic surgery done in Wichita and it was good, but Salina Ortho stands out the best." - Margie H.

After 7 incredible years with Salina Ortho, we are celebrating the retirement of Val, OTR/L, CHT.

Val’s dedication to her patients, her kind heart, and the care she poured into every interaction made a lasting impact on so many lives. She is truly one of the sweetest people you could ever meet, and yes, we’ll miss her legendary chocolate chip cookies almost as much as we’ll miss her.

Val, thank you for the compassion, warmth, and excellence you brought to our patients every single day. We wish you all the happiness, relaxation, and joy in this next chapter, you’ve earned it!
