Hello Kids Eat Right friends and families,

We are so excited to share our upcoming series beginning in September where families can cook with local leaders. Join community champions for hands-on cooking sessions featuring tasty recipes, healthy tips, and fun-filled learning. 🎉 ¡OTRO AÑO EXITOSO! 🎉

El pasado 5 de agosto, el equipo de WIC del Condado de Monterey organizó nuestra 18.ª Caminata Anual de Concientización sobre la Lactancia Materna y Feria de Salud en Salinas — ¡y fue TODO un éxito! 💜

El evento se llevó a cabo en la clínica de WIC durante el Mercado de Agricultores, y estuvo lleno de energía, sonrisas y espíritu comunitario. Más de 450 personas asistieron para conocer los recursos de salud disponibles, y más de 210 participantes se unieron a la caminata alrededor de la cuadra para celebrar la Semana Mundial de la Lactancia Materna. 👣💪

On August 5th, the Monterey County WIC team hosted our 18th Annual Breastfeeding Awareness Walk & Health Fair in Salinas — and WOW, what a day! 💜

Held at the WIC clinic during the weekly Farmer’s Market, the event was full of energy, smiles, and community spirit. Over 450 people came out to learn about local health resources, and more than 210 participants joined our walk around the block in celebration of World Breastfeeding Week! 👣💪

¿No sabe si su bebé está tomando suficiente leche de pecho?
Usted no está solo. Es una de las preguntas más comunes que escuchamos de los nuevos padres y cuidadores en WIC.
Hay signos simples que buscar:
el bebé va más despacio mientras se alimenta o deja de succionar,
se queda dormido durante o después de la alimentación,
se aparta del pecho o del biberón, y
suelta el p***n por su cuenta.

Busque 6 o más pañales mojados y de 3 a 4 popós al día después de la primera semana. El aumento constante de peso también es un buen signo de que la alimentación va bien.

Not sure if your baby is getting enough breast milk?
You are not alone. It is one of the most common questions we hear from new parents and caregivers at WIC.
There are simple signs to look for:
Baby slows down while feeding or stops sucking
Falling asleep during or after feeding
Turning away from the breast or bottle
Letting go of the ni**le on their own
Look for 6 or more wet diapers and 3 to 4 poops each day after the first week. Steady weight gain is also a good sign that feeding is going well.
