Navigating drop-offs can be tough, but with these tips, you can help make the process a bit easier for both you and your little one!

1. Keep It Short and Sweet: The quicker you leave, the easier it can be for both of you. Prolonging the goodbye can make it harder for your child to adjust.

2. Talk About It: Open communication is key. Discuss the drop-off process and reassure your child that you’ll be back.

3. Visit the Building Ahead of Time: Familiarize your child with their new environment. Visiting the space together can make the transition smoother.

4. Fake It Till You Make It: Stay positive and calm, even if you’re feeling anxious. Your child will pick up on your emotions, so staying upbeat can help them feel more at ease.

5. Talk to a Pediatrician or Social Worker: If the struggles persist, don’t hesitate to seek professional advice. They can offer additional strategies and support tailored to your child’s needs.

This is the face of postpartum depression. Do you see it? The depression? The struggle? The overwhelm, the grief, the sadness?

No?

1 in 5 women experience a perinatal mood and anxiety disorder. Yet that statistic can feel so shocking when you see women so put together on the street, playing with and engaging so happily with their child.

I’m posting this as a survivor. With help, I have felt better. With help, our clients have felt better and have seen the other side.

You don’t have to hide behind your sadness knowing this is supposed to be the “happiest time of your life.” It can be hard AND happy. Sad WITH moments of joy. Both can be true.

We’re here to help. I’m sharing my story to know you’re not alone and things have the potential of feeling better. I now have the honor of supporting other parents through their perinatal journey. Our clinicians Molly, Jordan, Emily, and June are accepting new clients. Don’t hesitate to reach out to us.

We see you. We are here for you. We’ve got you 💗

We caught up with our perinatal fitness certified trainer/consultant to discuss perinatal-safe exercise. Here’s a few of her suggestions (but, as always, do what’s best for your body and listen to your health care professionals before engaging in any exercises).

Abdominal Bracing: Perform by contracting your abdominal and pelvic floor muscles as you exhale. Hold this contraction as you breathe slowly in and out for 5-10 seconds. Relax your muscles and return to the starting position.

Downward Dog: Perform by putting the weight of your body on the palms and balls of your feet. Arms are stretched straight forward about shoulder width apart and feet about hip width. Keeping your arms and legs as straight as possible, stretch hips to the sky and press head towards the ground.

Cat-Cow: Perform bird dogs by getting on all fours on an exercise mat, placing your hands under your shoulders and your knees under your hips. Inhale deeply while rounding your lower back and bringing your head up. Exhale deeply and bring your abdomen in, arching your spine and bringing your head and pelvis down.

Glute Bridge: Perform glue bridge by laying on your back with both feet planted on the ground. Slowly squeeze your glutes to lift hips into the air. Pause at the top before lowering back to the start position.

Bird-Dogs: Perform bird dogs by getting on all fours on an exercise mat, placing your hands under your shoulders and your knees under your hips. While keeping your head and neck in a neutral position, lift one arm in front of you and the opposite leg behind you.
