Unlike the ridiculous legal fight of a Florida woman, most facilities will accept your autonomy - even if there's some pushback.

Discussion and respect is how we have safe birth without unnecessary trauma. Doctors, midwives, nurses who practice with respect will have these conversations with you to help you make informed decisions and understand if there's a true medical concern.

I am often asked if we will still support a birth if it is a major holiday like thanksgiving, or Christmas. And the answer is YES.

If a Thrive doula chooses to take a client that could potentially go into labor on a holiday, then that doula is also committing to the fact that they may be spending that holiday in the hospital with a laboring mama. 💜

Because of that— our availability is often limited during Nov and Dec depending on each doula’s holiday plans and to also minimize that possibility for our own families.
