For this year’s Great American Smokeout observance, VA is encouraging Veterans to “Quit Like a Pro” with VA support.

Stopping smoking is one of the most important changes that Veterans can make to improve their health at any age. Even if you’ve tried to stop smoking before, your VA health care team can help you try a new therapy or a combination of treatments that may work for you. Now is a great time to build your quit plan at SmokefreeVET (https://veterans.smokefree.gov/tools-tips-vet/smokefreevet) to set yourself up for success.

Salisbury VA is here to support all enrolled Veterans quit. Here are three pro tips:

1️⃣ Explore all VA to***co treatments available to you, including prescription medications, ni****ne replacement therapies, and counseling; did you know VA Whole Health offers Veterans clinical hypnosis? Read more here: https://www.va.gov/WHOLEHEALTH/features/Hypnosis_helps_Veteran_nip_smoking_in_the_butt.asp

2️⃣ Use medication and counseling together—real-life results show that this gives you the best chance of stopping for good; and

3️⃣ Understand that, as with any skill, every attempt you make to stop teaches you something that can help you quit later. Talk with your VA health care provider or call 1-855-QUIT-VET (1-855-784-8838) to get started today.
