Today marks my final day with SVNA Home Assistance, closing a chapter that has meant so much to me for the past ten years.
What started as a small program with just a couple dozen caregivers and clients grew into something truly special — serving hundreds of families across our community and creating meaningful employment for so many incredible caregivers. I am endlessly grateful for the trust that families placed in us during some of the most vulnerable moments in their lives.
This work has never just been a job to me. It has been a privilege to help people remain in their homes, maintain their dignity, and support families through the complex journey of aging.
None of this would have been possible without the dedication of the caregivers and office staff who showed up every single day with compassion, patience, and heart.
I am also incredibly excited for Amanda Gallagher, who will be stepping into the role of Director. Amanda has been an essential part of this organization and truly understands the mission of what we do. I have every confidence that she will continue to lead with care, integrity, and dedication to both our clients and caregivers.
Thank you to the community that supported SVNA Home Assistance over the last decade. I’m proud of what we built together and look forward to cheering the team on as they continue this important work.
While this chapter is closing, the relationships and memories will always remain. I found it fitting to share a photo from my very first day on the job with Michele Kearns (Executive Director at the time) and Brenda Fife (previous Director of Home Assistance), alongside one from my final day. It’s a reminder of how this journey began—and just how meaningful the past ten years have been.
With gratitude,
Meghan
