Senator Woods stopped by last week. Stephanie Six, CEO/Administrator, and Eric Carter, Director of Operations, had the opportunity to visit with him. They updated on the damages to the hospital following the storm in September. Senator Woods was out of town at the time and not able to be onsite.

UPDATE ON DAMAGES: The devastating storm on September 23, 2025, left the South Wing without a roof and water pouring into the building. E2 Roofing worked practically around the clock for 2 to 3 days getting a temporary roof in place to secure what wasn't already damaged. Today, 14 days later, the damages are in the millions; we face months of rebuilding; the South Wing is nothing but the studs.

It has been less than 24 hours since tragedy struck our hospital when the South Wing roof was destroyed by a storm passing through Sallisaw. That wing is for our inpatients. From the second it struck and our roof was gone, the staff jumped into action getting all of the patients to a safe and secure area, as water literally poured in from above. Once the patients were taken care of and situated appropriately, then came the next steps of hospital restoration. Employees from every department worked tirelessly in complete chaos at times. Everyone worked in unison toward the common goal of restoring our hospital to the point of being able to meet our community's health care needs. Just before midnight last night, about 7 hours in, our ER, lab, and radiology departments were operational. Today, at around 4:45 PM, the amazing teamwork and perseverance paid off when our West Wing was ready for inpatients! That feat is nothing short of miraculous. We have the most dedicated and resilient staff and we can't thank them enough for their outstanding performance through this disaster.

First of all, and most importantly, every one is safe! The South Wing of our hospital has sustained significant damage from the storms that moved through our area this afternoon. The outpouring of support from our board, friends, and community has been nothing short of amazing. Our heartfelt thanks to Pafford Ambulance, Sallisaw Fire Department, City of Sallisaw, Sallisaw Police Department, Sequoyah County Emergency Preparedness, American Red Cross, Marble City Fire Department, Brushy Fire Department, Sequoyah County Sheriff's Department, Cherokee Nation, countless other emergency staff, Gary and Zack Schaefer from BHC, Kyler Ekberg and Andy Edwards of E2 Roofing, and Service Master Restoration. The tree light and generators were onsite and working due in great part to George Jiles with Cookson Hill Electric, Charles House with the Sequoyah County Sherriff's Office, Steve Padgett and Anthony Armstrong with the Sallisaw Fire Department.

Everyone has gone above and beyond today and through the night!

While our inpatient services have been impacted, our ER, lab and radiology are up and running again!

New Employee Orientation

Welcome to all of the new employees!

The last Thursday of the month you can find Jackie Carson, Assistant to the Director of Nursing, taking care of everything for New Employee Orientation from the beginning to the end. Jackie does it all, from preparing the power point and scheduling the presenters, to notifying the dietary department to ensure the refreshments are prepared and ready for the attendees. Today Cale Connelly, Hayleigh Boswell, Tyler Tarwater, Katie Lane, Samantha Miller and Sonya Sevenstar all completed the program. We are so happy to have them on board!
