How Common is ADHD?
So, just how common is ADHD? About 5 percent of all children and about 66 percent of those diagnosed with ADHD continue to have symptoms as adults. ADHD is also very commonly misdiagnosed and mistaken for common child characteristics such as difficulty focusing and hyperactivity, but this does not meet all the requirements to qualify as ADHD. A recent study found that around 20 percent of all children are misdiagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. It is also important to check with a medical professional to properly diagnose (as well as any mental illness), as well as treat, ADHD. Addressing this disorder can help children accomplish day-to-day tasks and significantly decrease frustration during school making their life that much easier.
