đ¨ Regulatory Update: DOT Proposes Adding Fentanyl to the Drug-Testing Panel
The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has issued a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) that would align DOT testing regulations with the guidelines of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
â ď¸ IMPORTANT NOTE: These are proposed changes only. Employers are not currently authorized to test for fentanyl or implement other revisions to Part 40 until a final rule is published.
Key proposed changes include:

Adding fentanyl (urine & oral fluid) and norfentanyl (urine) to the DOT drug-testing panels
â
Adjusting certain cutoff levels
â
Updating laboratory and MRO requirements
â
Revising definitions for clarity and consistency with HHS
