Susan Glenn, AG

Susan Glenn, AG Professional Family History Research Service for the United States, Canada, Great Britian, and parts of Europe. I am a member of ICAPGen.

I have been an accredited genealogist for over 25 years. While I specialize in the Eastern United States, I am proficient at researching the entire United States and have experience in England, Ireland, Canada, Denmark, the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Germany, Italy, and Scotland. I conduct my research at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, the largest genealogical library in the world. My specialty is solving your research problems. Initial research begins at the Family History Library, which has a wide array of records from around the world that can be used to trace your family, but I am also adept at internet searches and utilizing many other record sources. Your research package will include a report in letter format, a detailed list of all records searched and the results of the search, copies of all documents, and family group records and pedigree charts when desired. I can trace descendancy or perform specific searches at your request. Records at the library include census, births, marriages, deaths, land records, probates, tax records, histories, military records, city directories, cemetery records, and church records. Consultation services are also available by request.

😷PANDEMIC ALERT 😂 (not for the first time)

During this current pandemic, I am fascinated by times in history when similar events have occurred. We have heard about the influenza pandemics of the early 1900’s, but there have also been times when epidemics have ravaged communities, though not on a worldwide scale. In my research I learned of such a time in New Jersey when what was termed as “consumption” ravaged the Newark area in the early 1870’s. Now known as Tuberculosis, the disease had a mortality rate of around 50%. One young family was hit particularly hard. Married in 1870, Michael and Catherine Farrell welcomed a daughter to their home in 1871. As happy as this time must have been for them, it didn’t last for long. Michael died just prior to Christmas in 1873 and Catherine succumbed in 1874, leaving their young daughter an orphan. Both were victims of this insidious disease. Thankfully, medical advancements have taken some of the fear out of Tuberculosis. Hopefully one day soon we can say the same about Covid-19.
