Alliance House welcomes our faculty team that has traveled to Salt Lake City for our accreditation. Accreditation is a critical part of the Clubhouse Model. Having colleagues come from other Clubhouse's to observe our program and give us feedback on ways to improve is welcomed. Thank you, Pete and Megan, for spending your time with us to help us be a stronger Clubhouse.

Allen has been a dedicated member of our Culinary Unit for several months. When the time came for him to seek employment, Allen felt confident that the skills he developed at the Clubhouse prepared him well for a Transitional Employment (TE) position at Squatters Brewery.

Allen enjoys the calm, focused nature of his morning shifts, where he helps prep the restaurant space before customers arrive. He has found the work grounding and he shared that he would love the opportunity to be hired on permanently once his temporary TE position comes to an end.

Allen encourages other Clubhouse members to take advantage of Transitional Employment opportunities, stating, “Anyone who has the opportunity to do a TE should take it. These positions are very fulfilling and rewarding.”

We’re so happy for Allen and excited to see where this opportunity takes him.

Every nonprofit opens with the hope that it has an ongoing and lasting impact on the community. January 5, 1987, three families embarked on a journey for their adult children living with mental illness. Jan and Norm Nelson, Jeanne Christensen, and Bernadette Velick had a vision to provide more support for those living with mental illness in Salt Lake City. Fast forwarding 39 years, many individuals have helped carry this vision. Happy Birthday Alliance House!

Hello again,

We are making progress on our repairs, but unfortunately, there are quite a few pipes that need to be repaired, and the plumber is going to come back tomorrow. This will require the water to be shut off for most of the day. We will be closed again tomorrow. However, we will be open on Thursday for our New Years Day activity and we will be open for business on Friday!

Please be aware that we are still working on getting our internet back up, due to this; we do not have a working phone. Please email the Clubhouse for any immediate needs. info@alliancehouse.org

Hello Alliance House community!

We are working on getting repairs to our pipes. Until this happens, we do not have internet or water. We are scheduled to have these things repaired tomorrow. Due to this, we will need to close the Clubhouse again tomorrow. We are hoping to be back on Wednesday.

Not how we wanted to spend the day after Christmas. We have a leak in our basement and will need to get some repairs done. Due to this, Alliance House will be closed the remainder of today and Monday. Please check our socials for updates.

A key feature of Clubhouse is Transitional Employment (TE). The TE program offers businesses a unique opportunity to support adults living with mental illness. The TE program connects members to real job opportunities in the community and provides ongoing support needed to help the members thrive.

Our current TE community partners are:
Squatters, Corner Brew Pub, Goodwill and the University of Utah.

Benefits to the Employer:
-No hiring process is needed. Selection of the employee is done by the Clubhouse.
-New employee training is done by the Clubhouse at no cost to the employer.
-Guaranteed absence coverage by Alliance House staff.
-Quick response and resolution to any on the job issues.
-The job is done to the employer's satisfaction.
-No vacancy in the position between employees.
-Transitional Employment is a valuable service and provides positive recognition for the employer.

Alliance House staff and member have returned energized and inspired after completing Clubhouse training at Stepping Stones Clubhouse in Australia. The team is now presenting a series of action plans focused on strengthening wellness initiatives, expanding mobile reach-outs, and developing additional Transitional Employment opportunities, including new clerical positions to better support member growth.

Clubhouse training fosters learning and community-driven innovation, and this experience has equipped Alliance House with fresh ideas and renewed motivation to enhance our work-ordered day and support member recovery. We’re excited to put these plans into action and continue building a stronger, more connected Clubhouse community.

Alliance House is redefining mental-health support in Utah through a “clubhouse” model where members work side-by-side with staff to run daily operations, fostering dignity, purpose, and belonging.
