This month we are recognizing the Utah State Office of Rehabilitation-Workforce Services for their support of Alliance House. We have had a long standing partnership with this agency including:

-Assistance with members to obtain resources necessary for employment.
-Training and workshops for Alliance House on resume building, interviewing, accommodations, and business relations.
-Technical support in navigating benefits, disclosure, and advocacy.

We want to thank the Utah State Office of Rehabilitation for all that they do to promote economic independence and competitive integrated employment.

The R. Harold Burton Foundation has been a long term supporter of Alliance House. Their support of us and many of our partner 501c3 organizations demonstrates their commitment to the larger community of Salt Lake City. The R. Harold Burton Foundation strives to continue their legacy of service by supporting education, science, literacy and health and human services projects primarily in the greater Salt Lake metropolitan area.

Chuck has been a regular member of Alliance House since 2009. Since becoming a member, Chuck has secured safe and affordable housing, stepped into multiple employment roles , and has had the opportunity to grow within the Clubhouse Model by attending Clubhouse Conferences.
Chuck says that he likes to come to Alliance House because:
"I like how it leaves a smile on my face. When I leave Alliance House, I am always happier than when I came. I am often worried about how the day is going to turn out and at times this has led to isolation. But the Clubhouse community challenges me to come in regardless of how I am feeling. When I am working with my colleagues side by side in the Work Ordered Day, I feel that I am contributing to a common goal and this gives me purpose in my life".

Jake recently gained independent employment with Deseret Industries. Working 30-hours per week, he is excited to learn new skills as a cashier. He has been a member at Alliance House for nearly 5-years. In 2024, he had a Transitional Employment position at Squatters Pub for 6-months. He says that it helped him 'have more responsibility to complete tasks on my own." Jake says he is motivated to become more independent and that he is grateful to Alliance House and his faith for helping him accomplish this. For members who work independently and are not able to participate as much in the work-ordered-day, Alliance House provides after-hour and holiday activities.

Salt Lake County Behavioral Health has been a long-standing supporter of Alliance House. Salt Lake County Behavioral Health Services is committed to enhancing overall health by addressing mental health and substance use disorders. Their focus is on effective treatment and supporting individuals on the path to recovery. They ensure access to evidence-based practices and community-based services, resulting in improved outcomes for individuals and families.

Thank you to Salt Lake County Behavioral Health for all that they do not only for Alliance House, but also for Salt Lake County.

We're excited to shine this week’s Employment Spotlight on Jacob, a dedicated Clubhouse member who has been consistently attending Alliance House for the past three months. During this time, Jacob has actively contributed to both the Career and Communication Unit and the Culinary Unit, building valuable skills and strengthening his daily routine.

Jacob shared that the structure and consistency of daily work at Alliance House played an important role in preparing him for employment. Through his participation, he developed specific job skills that helped him feel confident and ready to take the next step. After experiencing an employment gap, Jacob became interested in the Transitional Employment position at Goodwill, appreciating both the convenient location and the support of Alliance House staff facilitating the hiring process.
In Jacob’s words, “This job helps me feel like I'm doing something to change my life.”

Jacob’s journey is a wonderful example of how dedication and support can create meaningful change. Please join us in congratulating Jacob on his new position! We wish him continued success and all the best as he moves forward in this exciting new chapter.

Faculty is comprised of staff and members from Clubhouses around the world. Faculty members are responsible for completing the accreditation process that is so critical to ensuring that we are aligned with our standards. We are excited to announce that our very own staff Kaitlin is attending this extensive two week training. We wish her the best of luck!

Faculty training starts today at Clubhouse International!

We’re excited to welcome our largest group yet - 24 participants from 5 countries and 10 U.S. states as they begin this intensive training to strengthen Clubhouses around the world through our Accreditation process.

As part of this process, Clubhouse International Faculty conduct a rigorous, interactive review and on-site visit to ensure each Clubhouse adheres to the International Standards for Clubhouse Programs™ and delivers high-quality programming.

Over the coming days, these dedicated Clubhouse staff and members from Accredited Clubhouses will deepen their understanding of this consultative process and build the skills needed to deliver effective accreditations.

Miles has been a valued member of Alliance House for 15 years, and his journey is a powerful example of growth. Through our education program, Miles earned his high school diploma, an achievement he’s proud of and one that helped set the foundation for his continued success. He shares that the structure Alliance House provides, along with staying busy, plays an important role in supporting his mental health.

As part of his Transitional Employment experience, Miles found it especially helpful to tour the facility and be hired by familiar Alliance House staff, which made the transition into working at Goodwill feel comfortable and encouraging. Reflecting on his experience, Miles says, “I really appreciate the way Alliance House helps me to stay positive and optimistic.”

Miles hopes to remain employed beyond his Transitional Employment placement, and we couldn’t be more excited to support him as he works toward that goal. We wish him the very best of luck as he continues moving forward!

Alliance House was proud to attend Utah Nonprofit Day on the Hill, joining nonprofit leaders from across the state to advocate for policies that strengthen our communities. The day provided an opportunity for staff and members to connect with legislators and other nonprofits, share the impact of our work, and elevate the voices of the individuals we serve. We’re grateful to be part of a collective effort advancing meaningful change for Utah’s nonprofit sector.
