After a few cloudy and rainy days, we were able to go for a walk outside in the sunshine! ☀️

Our resident, Werner Sommerfeld, and his daughter, Sheila, gave a wonderful presentation on the story of Helmuth Hübener, a 17-year-old who courageously resisted the N**i regime during World War II. After secretly listening to Allied radio broadcasts, Helmuth and his friends created pamphlets to share the truth with others. He was later arrested and executed for his actions.

While in prison waiting for his sentence, Helmuth was permitted to write three letters. One of those letters was addressed to the Sommerfeld family - a connection that made today’s story even more meaningful.

Later in the evening the residents were able to watch the movie “Truth & Treason” which is about Helmuth Hübener’s story. What a great day of learning and thank you to Werner and family for sharing with everyone!
