August is National Immunization Awareness Month, and Governor Cox has officially recognized it here in Utah! Vaccines are one of the greatest public health achievements in history, saving millions of lives and protecting everyday moments.

But vaccination rates in Utah are slipping, and that puts all of us at risk. πŸ§’πŸ‘΅πŸ’‰ From our kids to our grandparents to neighbors with compromised immune systems, vaccines are about protecting each other.

Let’s renew our commitment to keeping Utah healthy. πŸ’™
Check your family’s records, talk to your healthcare provider, and share trusted information. Because when we protect each other, we all thrive. 🌎✨

To send us story ideas (just a sentence or two), share them with us through the survey link on our story, or contact Lulu Blau at lulublau@utah.gov. We will contact you for further information.

The Utah Health and Environment Action and Resilience Team (UHEART) is creating an online hub of stories, resources, and data that connect our health to air, water, and temperature changes in Utah.

Stories about personal experiences and successes will be a key part of our hub to raise awareness and support positive change.

We will work with you to share your story on our hub and reach audiences like families, educators, business owners, and policymakers. Sharing your story can help others learn from your experience and take steps to protect themselves and their communities.

If you have a success story related to health and environmental change in your community, or if you know of a community member experiencing a health issue related to air, water, and temperature, we want to hear from you!

Please contact Senator Lee and Senator Curtis NOW and ask them to OPPOSE the Rescission Package!

☎️ Contact info;

Senator Curtis: https://www.curtis.senate.gov/share-your-opinion/

πŸ“Sample Message Text:

I am contacting you to urge you to please oppose the rescission package. The package is harmful to public health for several reasons, including that it cuts funding for:

1. Public broadcasting - these funds are critical for local, noncommercial community stations across Utah, including in rural areas. The stations provide essential services, emergency alerts and information to communities all across the state.

2. Critical global health programs, including PEPFAR and other infectious disease programs, maternal and child initiatives, international development assistance, and humanitarian response. These programs save lives by helping to stabilize local economies and contain infectious diseases abroad - all of which help protect the health and safety of people in the U.S.

3. Democratic institutions around the world. Research has consistently shown that democracy is good for public health because voting allows people the opportunity to shape the conditions that impact their health. These funds help secure global stability and advance democratic norms around the world, benefiting U.S. health and safety as well.

Please work with your colleagues to oppose this package in its entirety, ensuring that public health and safety - abroad and here in the U.S. - is protected.

Thank you,

[Your name and town]
