A huge thank you to the United Jewish Federation of Utah for bringing the UJF Women’s Mini-Mission to JFS yesterday!

The group helped assemble dozens of essential needs kits for clients who utilize the Alex & Sally Lebwohl Food Pantry. These kits are a lifeline for individuals and families who are struggling to afford food and basic necessities.

It was fun to connect with both new and familiar faces while giving back to the community together!

Yesterday’s pickup from the Bishops' Storehouse included essential non-food items—personal hygiene products and other daily necessities that help families served by the Alex & Sally Lebwohl food pantry maintain health and dignity during difficult times.

With skyrocketing grocery and household item prices, many of these basics have become out of reach for families already struggling.

We’re so grateful for this partnership and for the generosity of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. And, special thanks to Elder Sperry and Elder Lutz for helping us!

The JFS office and Alex & Sally Lebwohl Food Pantry will be closed on Thursday, July 24.
We will reopen on Friday, August 25 with regularly scheduled food pantry hours from 11 am to 1 pm.

JFS’ Development & Marketing Manager, Wendy Vurik, was featured in last night’s FOX 13 News story on Esther's Garden Salt Lake City — a vibrant community garden in Salt Lake City that began as a Bat Mitzvah project and continues to nourish our neighbors today. As food insecurity continues to grow across Utah, fresh fruits and vegetables from Esther’s Garden are donated to JFS and other local partners, helping us provide healthy, nourishing food to those who need it most. 💚

As Utahns are dealing with growing food insecurity, one community garden in Millcreek is trying to be part of the solution.

Last week, the federal government officially ended the specialized LGBTQ+ Youth Services on the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline.
This change eliminates the “Press 3” option that had connected nearly 1.5 million LGBTQ+ youth to trained crisis counselors who understand their unique experiences — a service that saved lives. Though this decision is devastating and dangerous, especially for our most vulnerable youth, you are not alone. Support still exists.

We are deeply grateful to the LDS Bishop’s Storehouse for their generous grant, which helps us supplement the Alex & Sally Lebwohl Food Pantry with eggs, milk, bread, and other essential items. A special thank you to the staff at the Welfare Square Bishop’s Storehouse and Home Storage Center, and to Bishop Elder for his help with a recent pickup.

We are truly thankful to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and to all our community partners whose support allows us to serve those in need.

Last night, Melissa Zimmerman, Executive Director, and Wendy Vurik, Development & Marketing Manager, had the privilege of attending the Park City Community Foundation's Women's Giving Fund event! 🎉 It was a night of inspiration and celebration, honoring the incredible nonprofits making a difference in our community.

We're incredibly grateful to Granite Credit Union for kicking off our first Millcreek Backyard Garden Share delivery of the season! 🌱💚
JFS is proud to be one of four local agencies participating in this amazing project, organized by Millcreek Promise. Through the generosity of Millcreek residents, homegrown fruits and veggies are donated via neighborhood coolers, then picked up by volunteers, sorted, and delivered to agencies like ours.
We'll be receiving fresh, local produce each week this summer—and we couldn't be more thankful for the continued support from this wonderful community. 🌽🥕🍅
