As a Salt Lake City therapist, I care deeply about the skills, integrity, and heart that clinicians bring into their work. I pay attention to how therapists talk about people’s struggles, how they understand complexities, and how they hold space for growth without rushing or fixing. When I meet a clinician who brings curiosity, genuine compassion and “walking the talk” as we call it into the therapy room, I want you to know about them.

So, I’m honored to introduce Wendy Jensen, LCSW, a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist, Founder of Inside Wellness, and a therapist with over 20 years of experience helping college-aged adults and women of all ages to heal their relationships with food, body image, and, in turn, healing their relationship with themselves.

What would you have done if you lived in N**i Germany? What you are doing today about the American Gestapo ICE may reveal the answer.

An American citizen was killed today in Minneapolis while exercising her First Amendment Rights of free speech, the right to assemble and the right to protest by an American Gestapo ICE agent. This is completely unacceptable.

If you’re wondering what you can do to stop this American Gestapo, please what this “Short”, a video from a constitutional law professor who explained that we can do a LOT to stop ICE from doing what they are doing (much of which the are being allowed to do because they are exploiting existing loopholes) by getting Congress to pass a law that requires ICE agents to do all of the following:
1-have a warrant, even in cases where they believe the person may try to flee
2-identify themselves
3-prohibit them from wearing masks
4-prohibit them from stopping people on the basis of racial profiling

I’ll share a link in the comments where you can look up your federal senators and representatives to contact them. Feel free to copy and paste my demands in what you are urging them to do as their constituents, and feel free to share this post!

We live in a society and a world with so much polarization, division and disconnection, one where we often define ourselves and others more by our differences than by what we have in common.

I have witnessed and heard a great deal from people about their most painful and vulnerable and difficult experiences that has led me to believe that healing our culture, our relationships, ourselves and our world is going to require us to develop deeper, more genuine empathy, compassion, and connection with others.

One of the simplest ways I’ve found that people can begin to increase this needed empathy and compassion for other people and to increase connection and heal divides with other people is gaining a deeper understanding of another’s lived experiences.

As researcher and author Dr. Brene Brown says, “People are hard to hate close up. Move in.”

One way to move in and get to know others better is by listening to the lived experiences of others in their own words.

So, I decided to write this post and compile a list of some of my favorite memoirs and biographies for anyone who is interested in deepening their understanding of the lived experiences of another person who they perceive as different from them.

I’ve read and added several new ones in recent months. I’d love to hear what you think of them after youve read any of them!

Are you worried about the division in our world? Are you worried about the disconnection in our world? Are there divisions or disconnections from others that you want to heal? Do you want to feel more connection to others?

I’m scheduling 45 minute phone consultations with anyone who would like to explore therapy for themself in 2026.

I specialize in helping sensitive, progressive, perfectionistic, and high-achieving women who are stressed, overwhelmed and afraid they’re about to break. My approach is grounded, compassionate, and centered around helping you open space for kindness, curiosity, and deep healing—the kind of healing that doesn’t just “manage symptoms” but transforms the way you relate to yourself and the world. I blend body-based, nervous system work with emotionally focused, trauma-informed therapy to help you not just cope, but feel calm, clear, confident, and grounded again. In short: I help you come back to yourself.

Are you or someone you care about looking for this type of transformative therapy in-person in the Salt Lake City, Utah, U.S. area or online via telehealth video sessions anywhere in Utah?

Looking for a compassionate SLC therapist or an EMDR Therapist Utah? I provide trauma therapy and relationship therapy, for perfectionistic, high achieving, progressive, women in SLC, UT and across Utah. You don’t have to navigate this alone. I would love to partner with you in your healing journe...

My Story

You feel so overwhelmed that it feels paralyzing sometimes. You feel so much stress and anxiety from day to day, how do you figure out what is going to help you find some relief? You’ve been living like this for so long that it’s hard to imagine anything different. It feels like it’s all up to you to make sure things happen, and although you put others before yourself, and give and give and give, it never seems to be enough. You’re tired of doing this alone, and though you’re not sure if there’s a chance that things can change, you’re at the point where you’re willing to give counseling a try…

Hi, I’m Christy. I’m an Individual, Couples, and Family Therapist, and an EMDR Therapist, but you might call me a compassionate mentor in your healing and empowerment, or simply a Counselor.

I help people who long to feel understood and valued for who they truly are—weaknesses and all—but feel alone and fear they are crazy or not good enough, or that they will be rejected or abandoned.

The ways I approach therapy are different than most therapists.
